Excellent For Storing Leftover Paint. (Lids work just fine...)
These cans are perfect for "leftover paint" when your project is done. If you have a third of a can or less of paint left in the original metal can it's going to harden within a year or two. The can lid will probably rust inside the can and ruin the paint inside. Plus, a gallon can is, well, four times as large as a quart! Think about that from a storage perspective. Use these excellent plastic quart-size cans to keep that leftover paint fresh for a long time. I had five different colors in five metal gallon cans of leftover paint from a whole house project. I saved a quart of each color using these plastic cans. They will not rust, they are airtight, and are sturdy. Yes, other reviewers complain that the lids are difficult to get on. They are not with a good hard rubber or plastic hammer. With a light, clean tap the lids click on very nicely. I am very happy with these cans. If I only need a blushful or two of paint out of one of these plastic cans, I have saved the cost of buying another whole gallon two years later because the original paint had dried out because of being left n the original metal gallon can. Also, remember to keep paint in a temperature stable location. That means not in your garage or shed! Temperature extremes will quickly ruin paint. I highly recommend these containers for any appropriate job. Use the correct tool for sealing the lid and rest assured they will close perfectly. One note - if you have no hard rubber or plastic hammer, use a piece of hardwood laid across the lid and lightly tap the WOOD, not the can, to get it to click tight.

The Lid Snaps in and Seals Tightly
The lid snaps in tightly. Just the thing for storing the paint you plan to use for touch up latter, or in this case, to complete part 2 of the job when the weather warms up. Paint has a long shelf life stored above freezing temperatures, but metal cans are prone to rust on the inside of the can and the lids do not always seal tightly. What can you say more about plastic paint cans with lids that seal well?

These work well. Easy to snap lids on and off. Here's how I did it.
I like these containers a lot. They're high quality. I'm using them to transfer and store 1/2 gallon of paint from a larger metal 1 gallon container (which doesn't close properly due to paint clogging the seal) into two of these quart-sized containers. It worked perfectly. I've read a number of low rating reviews regarding the lids being difficult and I did not share that experience. I'll share how I easily put the lid on and remove it, below. These black paint containers have a strong, air-tight seal. As such, I used a light plastic mallet (a hammer would likely work too) to lightly tap the top around the lid edges until they make an audible snapping sound as they click onto the can. This tells you the lid is fully on. It was not difficult at all. I am surprised at all these reviews which make this seem difficult. It's not. Using a large flathead screwdriver easily pops the lid off. Go around the lid edges prying up carefully so as not to bend the plastic to ensure an airtight seal when done. All around great cans for saving paint from bad metal cans, or other purposes too.

Great product for left over paint
Do you have 1/4 filled paint cans? The can is going to rust out eventually. These are ideal to dump the paint in and keep it for awhile. I tagged each one with the label from the paint store and noted the room. Excellent product! Cheers, Danbo

Great option over metal lid paint cans, no rusting!
Was a little skeptical ordering plastic paint cans but glad I did. These seem pretty solid and I used these to replace older metal cans that were rusting out. These allowed me to save the paint. They sealed nicely with a snap so you knew the lid was on tight. Should have replaced the old cans with these earlier.

Plastic paint cans work great!
Great plastic paint cans. I used a regular hammer to close them up/close the lid, very robust.
