Looks great in automotive environment
I just replaced the original head unit in my '97 Honda Civic with a Pioneer unit and specifically chose a head unit with a rear USB port so I could place the USB connection for my iPhone elsewhere. This device fits that bill perfectly. The cord is 6 feet long, so it gave sufficient length to run to my center console, although there isn't a ton of extra length, so measure your location before ordering. As others have stated, the port is extremely tight, so pull your cable out by the connector instead of by its cable. The first few times, it helps to also push away from the connector with your fingers. This may be an issue in applications where the cable in constantly swapped out, but I leave my cable in my center console, so I don't really have an issue with this.To install, I drilled a hole through the plastic wall of my center console with a 3/4" hole saw. This mount snapped right in, but tended to spin in its hole a bit. A liberal amount of superglue (on the back side) fixed this, however.Overall, installation was a breeze and I'm happy with the results. It'd be nice if the connector wasn't so tight, but this isn't too big of a deal for me since I don't change my cable out that often.

Great OE-looking panel mount USB port, difficult to flush-mount perfectly
This is great way to add an OE-looking USB port in your car. The port holds USB connectors firmly, but not so tightly that it makes removing and inserting connectors difficult. The cable itself is quite beefy and well constructed too. However, if the mounting hole you want to use is too large or if the panel you are mounting this in isn't the right thickness, flush-mounting this port can be a little difficult. I wanted to mount this in place of an unused cigarette light socket to avoid drilling any unnecessary holes. Unfortunately, the hole for the socket was too large to keep this mount from pulling out of the dash. I had to butcher the removed cigarette lighter socket to keep this mount from pulling out of the dash, but that was not satisfactory. The mount was still very loose and would rotate. I gave up and just used super glue to secure it to the dash, which actually worked very well. If this mount used a nut to secure itself to the dash like the Clarion CCAUSB USB 2.0 Extension Cable with Integrated Cover , this would be a five-star product. With that said, I would still recommend this USB mount, considering that the CCAUSB is almost twice as expensive and doesn't look like OE at all.

Works well, but may require additional support
Very easy to install in a car dash -- just drill a hole, then add a notch (this keeps the jack from twisting in the round hole), and pop the jack into place. It looks good when you're done, nice and clean. The USB jack holds very tightly when you insert a plug. The only issue I have is that the jack pulls out of the hole slightly (about 1/16" or so) when you remove a plug from it. I used a couple of medium-size zip ties around the jack on the back side, and now the problem is gone -- so with that little bit of extra support from behind, the jack works perfectly.Note that I installed this into a pretty thin piece of plastic, and didn't use the included mounting bracket. It may not have this problem when used with the bracket.

Great product!
I ordered this for my car to put in place of the 12v accessory port since my deck has a USB input on the back and I didn't want a chord coming out from under the dash. The hole in the port was a little big (not the fault of the product as the hole was larger than 3/4") and I didn't want to drill a new hold or use the included holder, so I had to glue the lip with industrial crazy glue, but it's holding well. The cord is plenty long and is quite sturdy. My only gripe which has been stated in other reviews is that the USB port (female side) is really tight and you have to use extra effort to unplug, but I guess it's better to be snug than really loose.

Great Product for Car Install
I purchased this to install a USB port to charge my iphone in my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Works great, drill a 3/4" hole where you want to mount it, just push it into the hole, very tight fit, doesn't come loose. Also, just to mention if you want to install in a car that doesn't have a usb port to plug this into, your going to have to do a little work. Car accessory ports are 12v and USB is 5v. So if you think your going to just cut the end off and tap into your existing wiring, hopefully you will believe me; I tried, doesn't not work. You going to have to purchase a USB cigarette adapter, take it apart disconnect the metal pieces from the board for the negative and positive and solder on wires and tap those into your accessory wiring. Then just plug the USB into it and you have a perfect charging usb port. Also tested another android device, charges fine.

People think it's OEM
Great little USB port for your vehicle. I have this running into the rear of a Pioneer AVH-P4400BH in an 05 Silverado 2500. Looks great and is a perfect fit for my application. I drilled a hole into the dash and pressure fit it in rather than using the pyramid shaped mount. THe pressure fit is a much better looking install and even in my 8 year old truck looks OEM, even though we didn't have this kind of capability back then (back then? sounds like centuries ago). There is plenty of lead and even if you're a litt short, just add a USB extension (make sure you use 2.0 extension).I use this primarily with a tiny Verbatim USB drive (8GB), but can also plug in any MP3 player that a computer recognizes as a removable media device which enables me to play the music right off the device while simultaneously charging it.

Pac USB Cable
I bought this to put in my 2013 Sierra. The thing about 2013 GM trucks is that for some stupid reason they put the USB music plug in the center console. In other words, you have to open the console lid, lift out the tray, set the tray in the passenger seat, plug in your USB drive and then put everything back. Not something you want to do while driving! With this item I was able to plug it into the trucks port in the console, run it out and over the top edge of the console (the lid still closes) and run it down in between the console and seat to the bottom of the dash. At the bottom of the dash there is one screw that I was able to utilize to mount the plug. Works great!

Great All Round Cable - Too Short for Automotive Decks
I would've given this a five star if it was correct length. For automotive decks this wire is far too long - the cord transferred data and power through a high power source such as a laptop. But when dealing with automotive electronics most decks aren't powerful enough to transfer data through six feet of cable. We had to cut off 5.5ft of cable and splice it back together to extend Apple CarPlay on a Kenwood DDX6702S.Worked like a charm after that. Feels like it's good quality. Just they should offer shorter cables for automotive decks.

It works well
What can I say....it is a USB extender and it works really well. I used it in a retro videogame console so that I could easily add new games and software updates to the Raspberry Pi without opening the console.
