What size yarn for the wooden one and how tall are the loops? On the plastic one what size yarns can you use and how tall and short can the loops be?

I’d recommend worsted weight or another mid-weight yarn but with this set, it’ll break before you get that far. Both of the tools in mine broke swiftly and I’m gentle with my tools. I ended up getting both an Oxford tool for mid-to-larger weight yarns and also an Ultra Punch Needle tool for fingering and lighter weight, more detailed works. is the punch needle tools blunt or sharp? I want to check to see if it is safe for middle schoolers to handle.

Both aren't too sharp, as long as you supervise it should be okay. Even the sewing needles you get are pretty blunt.
