Solid, heavy and good grip. Best unit I ever had!

I bought this and took a chance, but this is made well and should last awhile!

For some reason I can’t get the correct sized skimmer basket for my pool in my local pool supply stores. I have a Hayward filter and skimmer and I always have difficulty getting the correct sized items. I found this basket on Amazon for way less than it’s sold for by my local Leslie’s Pool Supply. I was surprised to find Leslie’s logo on the handle of this basket! I’ve used this type of skimmer basket for going on four years now. Because the handle allows airflow above the basket, it makes it easier to pull a full basket of leaves/debris out of my skimmer. The old baskets we used would form a seal if they got too full and the only way to remove them was to turn the filter off. Sometimes that didn’t work though. We have several large trees nearby that cause our skimmer to fill quickly at certain times of the year. I highly recommend this type of basket as it keeps our skimmer from creating a suction on the basket and we can easily empty this one. My last one last for three years before the handle broke during a bad freeze. We don’t live in an area that we get many freezing temperatures and don’t winterize our pools here. Great value for how much this basket cost!

Think we finally found a great skimmer basket. Have only be using it for about a week so far, but seems like it is going to be the best yet. Have purchased many this summer and they blow apart. All were cheap thin plastic and when they collected leaves, they fell apart. This one is much sturdier and I love the handle.

I love this concept. I hate putting my hand down in the skimmer to empty it after a heavy rainstorm (or a bit of neglect) - it's always filled with crickets and unknown. The normal baskets are hard to remove. I bought one with a bar that runs across the top but when the basket is full, I have to put my hand in the leaves to find the bar and then it broke off within a month. THIS one has a handle that sticks up but is still below the level of my cover. Here's why this one got 4 stars for me: I love the handle but the shape of the basket does not fit my standards skimmer. My skimmer uses a round basket that is the same diameter on the top and bottom (shaped like a cylinder). This basket tapers at the bottom a bit and the top diameter is too big for my skimmer. Because I loved the handle so much, I removed the handle from this basket and attached it to my old skimmer basket. Now it's perfect for my skimmer. The handle is thick and sturdy and makes empty the basket SO MUCH easier and pleasant.

Our pool guy was breaking around 3-4 pool baskets per year, due to the weight of material being collected and the plastic edges of the basket ripping when he pulled it up. His company charged us $25 each time they replaced it. After researching the product they were using, I realized the "high quality" baskets they were purchasing were costing them about $12-15 each. So, I researched every basket I could find that would fit my skimmer; seeking the right combination of high build-quality/durability and cost. I tried 3 different products. This was by far the highest quality... and I didn't even bother testing the other 2 units. Also, until this research effort, I didn't even realize that some baskets had handles like this one... and it works brilliantly (as long as your skimmer is deep enough to fit it, which ours is).The product looks well built in the photos, but you never know with plastic. It's actually a bit sturdier than it appears in the photos. We started using it 4 months ago, and it's been perfect -- no cracks, no worn/stretched/distressed (lighter) areas in the plastic... In fact, it look news. Obviously, we won't know how long it lasts until later this year... but it's clearly a better product than our pool company was using, and than the others I found (which were similarly priced). With these factors in mind, the price was absolutely appropriate. The media could not be loaded.  This was a good purchase. I like the handle, the screws did not rust and the basket has a weight in the bottom so it doesn’t float when the pump is off. I have been using this for two months. I also bought the blue one that is similar, but the bottom opens up. It was $10 more than the white one and I recommend the white one highly over the blue one. Happy with this purchase. It’s actually bigger bottom diameter than listing states, which is good. It has exactly same dimensions as Pentair 27182-009-000
