Standard Engineer quality...which means excellence
Absolutely a five star product, as are most things Engineer. These pliers were a compromise for me but ended up being the best balance for what I wanted. What I'd really like are some of the cheap-cheap 120mm pliers with the shorter nose but still with a side cutter...in a high quality grind with high quality steel. That doesn't exist unfortunately. So these were a tad larger than my ideal but still had larger cushioned grips, and those grips come up close to the pivot joint (which I find to be a very desirable feature) while not being obtrusive or bulbous. My ideal plier was available from Knipex but only in a standard thin vinyl grip, and most other high quality minis omit the side cutter. This pair arrived with zero grind defects and good sharp even cutting surfaces, tips that meet and are shaped correctly and alike, and that nice buttery light but effective return spring. All of the teeth on the jaws are nicely done, barely a bur to be found. I was hoping that the flat surface of the jaws would be zero gap but there is a small one, so anyone that is gripping or bending thin metal strips (like nickel battery strips, disassembling battery packs, etc) may want to choose a different plier for that. I still chuckle when I see the bizarre pattern and texturing on these newer Engineer grips, but y'know, they are comfortable and grippy and long wearing, no complaints there. Most Japanese tools are very well made, if not exceptionally well designed, too...Engineer is both of those and I think for what models they offer they are one of the best tool brands out there, quite on par with any of the top German and Swiss brands, and besting most of what I've seen from the US brands of late. Have not regretted buying any of their stuff yet and really enjoy using them.

Small, precision, and impressive
I just now received the Engineer Lead Pliers and immediately fell in love with them. I'm impressed with everything about it and the spring action makes it a delight to operate. I'm immediately ordering another and that might not be the last.

Very Good Value
Very good value but not the most precise plier of its type. More precise pliers are more expensive though and may not be needed depending on the use.

Sturdy, good grip
Fits well in my hand. Good grips on the handle and grips well on the business end. Will I buy this again? No, because this will last several lifetimes, unless driven over with a battle tank.

High quality. Made in Japan.
These are the genuine Engineer pliers, the same ones in stores in Japan. Great quality and comfortable handle. They have a spring to open, so for storage I keep an elastic band around the handle. They cost more, but its a tool to buy once and leave for your kids (the cheap ones I had were made in China, and needed to be replaced). Pro tip: check prices on Japanese web sites to make sure you're getting a normal price. Made in Japan, quality tool.
