Great addition if you are using other Unifi products
I bought this because we started dealing with a lot of Unifi products at my job, and I found them to be solid devices. The centralization of controls for all the Unifi network devices is a nice element if you want to keep managing your network a bit simpler. While it does provide a simpler approach, this switch still supports advanced features such as VLAN support. I know other people have chosen to replace the internal fans with some Noctua fans to decrease the noise level, but honestly, I don't have an issue with it. This is quieter than the switch it replaced and is quieter than some of the other equipment I have in the same rack. There are some users who have encountered issues with their controllers seeing their switch, but mine installed with no issues. My controller just runs in a Docker container on one of my servers, and I didn't have any trouble. I have installed the controller software on Windows PCs for several clients at work and those have been the only times I've encountered any adoption issues.

Perfect for the Unifi Ecosystem
I have been going down the path of upgrading my home network for the past year. This was one of the bigger pieces to my home network puzzle that I had been trying to purchase. The price point is high, but it is a great device. I've now got the Unifi Switch managed by the Unifi CloudKey with a Unifi Security Gateway and Unifi AP Pro. If you want good, reliable, and decent priced gear for your home, this seems to be the best bang for your buck without going down the Enterprise level rabbit hole. I gave the switch 3 stars for Easy to Use because the amount of features the Unifi ecosystem has. The device is plug and play, but to get the full use of the device you need to have a good understanding of networking.

Great first large switch
This is a great first large switch. it's just you need to remember this is an L2 switch not L3 and the SFP ports are 1gb not 10gb but honestly if you are trying to set up a 10gb connection most likely you would have already known what to look for. I don't have anything that would require that kind of speed at the moment so I'm good I just wanted to be able to setup my new house with network connections in each room and this was the fastest way to do so. I do plan on eventually upgrading with a second switch that supports POE but since most of what I'll be doing doesn't require that at the moment and anything POE I have injectors for already, I was able to save some money and get started with this model. I was able to integrate this switch nicely into the unifi controller and it updated the firmware right away for me! I plan on building out my home network with more unifi equipment once I'm ready!

The perfect switch for the UniFi ecosystem
I switched to all Ubiquiti UniFi gear for my network over the past year and it truly is the best. The controller software, which I run on a Raspberry Pi 3, is top-notch. I love all of the information that is available when you use all-Ubiquiti products like this switch. You can see exactly what is attached to it easily. It doesn't run too hot either so it helps keep my cabinet pretty cool with minimal use of external fans. Performance is as good as I could hope for. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Ubiquiti is what you want for reliable networking!
I have two of the 8 port switches, 2 24 port ones, USG pro, and 2 AP Pros too so I'm invested into Ubiquiti Unifi products. I used to have Netgear Nighthawk, Netgear Mesh, and Modem too. I'm sure it was partly Comcast's fault, but Netgear didn't help either. Switched internet companies and also switched to an Edge router and then finally all in with Unifi. Always rebooting with the Netgear products. Now I have been up for months without any downtime except to upgrade the firmware on occasion (Which I can do remotely when I'm not home!). SUPER RELIABLE!!! GREAT SPEEDS! My home network is basically a small business with over 40+ clients and Ubiquiti products don't blink. I like to play some with my tech, but I also want it to just work these do that job!

I totally recommend Ubiquiti products
Fully loaded with features, this is a great switch for home or office use. Easy to set up using the Unifi software. I use it for my home network and at our church to separate my IoT device’s from the rest of the network. Supports multiple VLANs with ease. I love Ubiquiti products. Finally, a manufacturer that gives enterprise features with home/small business prices.

Great switch. Replaced my in my home router and ...
Great switch. Replaced my in my home router and switch with this, the USG, CloudKey, and AP-PRO. Very happy with the number of ports available and how it handles traffic. I would highly recommend getting the USG and CloudKey for statistics and additional features. The UI is simplistic and easy to use. Adopting and managing the switches could not be easier. Pros 1. Adopting and managing the switches could not be easier 2. Network mapping and UI are very user-friendly 3. Managing VLANs and multiple networks 4. Works great for home and small business use Cons There are some pain points that are not in the GUI or at least not easy to understand how to use. 1. Is features like UPNP need to be enabled but through SSH only. If you cannot do CLI, you are going to have to learn or search the community 2. Setting up a VPN through another provider has eluded me thus far 3. Instructions on how to configure as lacking. If you have some network experience, you will be better off. Overall I love these devices and will continue to grow my network using them. I have already recommended them to friends and family. If you have more wired connections then you get with 4-port routers for home use, I recommend this and this family of devices. However, remember to get the USG and CloudKey to ensure you have all the features available.

So simple to set up and use with the GUI interface. Using optional fibre modules for downstream connectivity. Very quiet.

Very simple to setup if you have the cloud key. I already had a Ubiquiti Edge router, so I simply plugged these in, acquired them and some simple configuration to get up and running. I would consider Ubiquiti to be a prosumer grade of product. I'm in IT for a living and have networking knowledge and find these very simple to setup and administer. Most home network admins would be able to figure it out with some perseverance if they want anything other that simple switch capabilities. If you want to start to setup VLAN's and basic firewall configurations, go with a whole Ubiquity solution end to end and use the wizards. They are very effective and will help you learn as you go. Router/Firewall-Switch-Access Points-Iot(Cameras) all very compatible.

Shipped quick and worked with no issues out of the box... having a Ubiquiti set up already it was plug and play into my Dream Machine, updates and good to go. No issues with setting ports on specific Vlans etc... has been running for a couple months no with no issues.

Easier than consumer grade to manage with pro performance.
