This is the perfect bit for my mare. She has thick lips and a big tongue. The rise in the port helps keep her comfortable. Will not pinch skin on the side. Really well made, quality bit.Make sure you accurately measure the width of your horses mouth. Can use binder twine with knot in one end placed on one side and then pinch hold the other side outside of mouth for a pretty good estimate. you can’t pick what size you want. i was given a 5.5in bit when i believed it was only a 5in bit. i’m sure it will be too big for my mare’s mouth.
