Fun to do.
I'd like to be able to view assembly on the internet.

Fun to build, but note...
We got this as a project for my wife and me to build together. I've built things all my life, from scratch and from kit, but my wife hasn't. This looked like fun and it really was enjoyable to put together. The Ikea style wordless instructions are surprisingly clear.. The plywood used is very high quality and the laser cutting is first rate. The entire engineering of the clock is quite amazing. Now the negatives. First of all, all of those gears don't run the clock itself. That's a typical battery operated quartz movement. It works perfectly so if you just want a time piece, it's fine and there's no noisy ticking to keep you awake if you keep the clock in your bedroom. All that gearwork is to run a countdown timer and that's entirely independent of the timekeeping. You turn a dial at the back to the desired time, then wind a spring for the pendulum and a second one for the chime which is supposed to ring at the end of the set time. Ours has never worked properly. Mind you, I've restored old mechanical clocks so I know a bit about how they work, and this one is very erratic. Sometimes it runs, and it's fun to see the parts moving. Often it stops part way through. Instead of chiming when the time is up, the chime spring goes SPROING and pops out of place. Clock springs are under a lot of strain when they're wound up, and I don't think even the best plywood is suitable for constraining them.Seriously though, your cell phone has a better timer, and it's always there in your pocket. I can't see using this one for actually timing something important. All in all, I can't say I regret buying and making this. Just know that it is what it is.

Really nice but…
My husband likes to build stuff, so I got this for him for Christmas. I thought it looked like a challenge more than the Lego for adults. So I was right, but this set was really frustrating. You need EXTREME attention to detail as some of the parts will fit together in ways that you’ll later find aren’t correct. And many of the steps to assemble need perfection in order for the whole thing to work. Also comes with instructions for certain parts via QR code that leads to a Facebook video that aren’t that helpful.Luckily, the wood is pretty sturdy so if you mess up once (or a million times), you can take it apart and try again without damaging it.After probably 6+ hours assembling, I broke the clock face by trying to straighten the second hand, so we really don’t know if the whole thing works or not. DO NOT TOUCH THE SECOND HAND AFTER ATTACHING IT. Ours was sort of bent which we noticed after we put it in, but the pin that goes into the battery case is very fragile so inspect everything before you put it together. It broke when I tried to straighten it.Overall it looks nice, but is disappointing since the clock doesn’t work.
