Yes. Any metal that is attached to the frame. It should be cleaned with sandpaper or a wire brush first before you attempt to ground it.

Will this work well on positive ground 6 volt vehicles on do you have a netter tool

If you can hold the prong on the “positive ground” and somehow make a contact from an alligator clip to the wire you are trying to test... then yes. But definitely that’s a huge flaw of that device.
