Absolutely The Best Portable Mic Preamp. Perfection Personified.
Absolutely excellent audio interface. I previously owned the iRIG Pro, Roland Go Mixer and the Shure X2u preamp units. All have their strengths and definitely shortcomings as it relates to performance reliability. Discovered the Zoom U24 by shear accident desiring to have maximum versatility, ultra reliable, great build quality and ease of use with a portable battery operated interface. The Zoom U-24 Handy Audio Interface has met and exceeded all of my expectations and provided so much more. Ease of use. Ultra clean pre’s. Plenty of inputs and outputs. Ultra reliable. Physical appearance also is just beautiful. While obviously being larger than the aforementioned, it is so worth it while at the same price point. Not one complaint with anything.Perfection Personified.

Very good.
Perfect for my studio and live performance gig. Great for FX routing with all of those juicy outputs for my synths.

Works great as a stand alone 2 ch. mixer
I bought this to work in a live gig situation with my guitar pedal board. I have two separate signal paths and I wanted the ability to send one signal to the mixer rather than sending two and relying on the sound guy to balance the blend between them. For this purpose the unit works great. It doesn't need to be connected to a computer or other device to work. It works just fine as a stand alone mixer. One signal path is the normal electric guitar pedals and IR cab loader at the end and the other path is the piezo output on one of my guitars for the acoustic sounds.I love that you can use either usb port to power it up. I use the larger connector instead of the micro-usb because it's a more solid connection. I also keep a couple of rechargeable batteries on hand just in case. My pedal power supply has a USB out for charging phones and it works fine to power the U-24. I also have USB ports on my power strip and those also work fine to power the U-24.The one draw back is that there aren't any XLR outputs. Just 1/4" and RCA. So I'm sending the output to a DI box. I also use the headphone out for my IEM or powered wedge.I have hooked it up to my laptop running Windows 10 and it works fine in Reaper. I doubt I'll ever use it as an interface since I already have a couple of more robust options in the studio.I have now used the unit for multiple practices and a couple of gigs. Issue free thus far. The unit is plastic, so I'm pretty gentle with it. I picked up a hard clam style case for it.

Excellent interface. If you understand how this fits in your rig, then feel confident buying it.
Super little interface. Can be a critical part of a small home studio. Or a DJ, karaoke, or simple PA rig. Most importantly, this allows you to use microphones that require 'phantom power'. You can monitor this with headphones (w/their own volume) and route the output to the USB port of your computer (or ipad, with an additional connector). You can now produce multi-track recordings (needs a DAW like the free Audacity). Input can also be guitar, bass, keyboards, etc. It also outputs stereo line-levels through 1/4 in and RCA/Phono jacks. Great controls: gain on both channels, master out, mute buttons, and monitor controls. If you know how this works in your rig, I recommend it. It's not built for touring, but I'd unplug it from my home rig a take to rehearsal in a minute - and that's why I bought it.

some of it works, some of it doesn't
i got this to replace an old Tascam interface that got bricked by a Windows 10 update. granted, this is not for my studio pc, but the living room media pc that i also use as a backup to my studio pc. a couple weeks ago, Ivana wanted to do her vocal tracks in the living room, instead of in the basement studio during a heatwave. this would have been the first time recording tracks with the device (its main use is to connect my pc to my home stereo for my massive Winamp library, and for that use, the device works well). but recording vocal tracks was not happening at all with the Zoom. maybe it's because the pc it's connected to is kinda old, but i would expect that it would record a microphone signal, and there i would be wrong. kinda bummed. had to do the vocals in the basement studio (during a nasty heatwave, so it gets sweaty down there). i will probably try again to accomplish recording vocals, and if it works, then i will update this review. for now, i give it 3 stars, because it does allow my Winamp library and Spotify to travel to our old-school component stereo system, which is what i mainly bought it for
