Preval2 Pack

I used the Preval system for a color base coat of metallic nitrocellulose lacquer and the results were really astonishing. The system is easy to use and despite reading that it's charger (the propellant can) is only good for a single use, I found that spraying some thinner through it after painting and back purging the system out of the pickup tube (by thumbing the nozzle and dispensing some propellant in reverse) kept the same charge can working properly throughout the entire 6 or 7 coats that I used it for.It took a bit of fine tuning the ratio of thinner to paint, and honestly, I did have to thin it out more than I expected to get sufficient atomization of the lacquer for thin smooth coats but once I nailed the ratio it was really surprising how well it works. I saw some youtube videos where people were getting crazy orange peel and I expect that they were mixing for a compressor and gun as opposed to testing for best results.A couple of basic tips are that the bottle that comes with it is too large for small projects and too small for large projects, I'd recommend getting the half size touch up bottle that they sell if you're doing something small and on a larger project be prepared with double the amount of paint mixed ahead of time for when you need to refill.Also, don't grab hold of the can itself when you screw it onto the jar, always screw the top and bottom together gripping the plastic ring that mates the can to the bottle, if you break the seal between the can and the plastic, paint will seep out when you spray it. Also don't tilt the can too far and don't try to move too fast, both of these will cause the pickup to either not take in paint or to behave erratically.The basic spray tip that comes with it has narrow coverage and the propellant can has a male tip, so if you need more of a fan type spray or a fat cap, you'll need to obtain one ahead of time but it should fit any of the male Rustoleum style caps. I found that the valve opening and closure is not terribly accurate or that it has some delay so start a bit farther off the surface of the work and end a bit farther off than you would with normal rattle cans. Not crazy far off, but far enough off so that any delay in start or release of the valve won't put unneeded texture on your painted surface.Really though, I'm very impressed with this product, I purchased 2 thinking I would inevitably need both and ended up with a spare that I'm seriously glad to have for when I next need it. Can't recommend this product enough and I'll be interested to try it for things other than paint, apparently you can use it with stains, dyes, or other things you might need to dispense. Well worth the price in my opinion, just start on a test board or some other scrap to figure out what will work best with your particular media.

Excellent product. If you need an alternative before you decide on a spray gun or an air brush pen. Just make sure you dilute the paint correctly as the tubing is a little slim. But other than that it was low cost alternative and got the desired result.

when i bought this i also got 4 refills. the 1st one lasted thru 4 containers of liquid the other 5 didn't last for even half of a single container of liquid and all 5 had vacuum leaks and did not spray as they should i do not even recommend trying this product it is the worst waste of money Ive spent here

There's a reason these things have been around for over 50 years, they really work!You'll need to thin out the media you're working with (or not) to get them to spray just right. Once you get that your golden.

Perfect for spraying thinned nitro lacquer. I used this for clear coat top finish on guitars and it worked very well, better than rattle cans and almost as good as spray guns. The power unit lasted for 6 topcoat of 1 guitar. I was able to drain leftover lacquer from 8 rattle cans to use with the Preval. I may stop using rattle cans since they lose pressure and waste product. I can also add thinner and retarder as desired which is impossible with rattle cans. Sure pro spray equipment is better but it's a hassle to maintain and clean not to mention the over spray.

The product works but leaves behind approx 2.5oz of paint, which makes it pointless for spot repair.You'll need to cut a length of tube to touch the floor pf the glass container, cut small notches for the paint to enter and use it this way for it to work.I shouldn't have to create my own workarounds. Now you know.

First, know that this is NOT returnable! I wanted to spray a small area of an appliance, but this sprayer requires at least a quarter of a cup of paint, so it wouldn't work with the small bottle of touch up paint. It's much larger than I thought it would be.
