SmallRig Mini Matte Box for Mirrorless DSLR Cameras Compatible with 67mm/72mm/77mm/82mm/95mm Lenses - 3196

This is a good cheap matte box. I like that I can use my circular filters with it. I like that it gives my camera that “big camera” look. It’s not the best matte box, but it does the job for its cost. I ended up with two of them. I would like to be able to buy the larger eyebrow separately but I can’t figure out how.

I'm pushing my video service (I'm a pro Photographer) so need the right tools. Let's be honest, those tools many times do not only do what they are supposed to do and make your work better or easier, but they also look good and make you look more pro.This is the case of the mate box. it helps you shooting in the middle of the day with hars sun and reflections everywhere, but it also adds a pro look to you camera. So when people see your setup they think "That camera looks very pro, he must know what he is doing".The filter tray is a plus, specially for those times when you need an ND filter in order to keep a shallow dept of field.The Mate box is super light, adding almost no weight to your setup.So, this was one of the best buys I've done for my video setup.The pics were taken as soon as I opened the box. I'll update soon with some of the whole setup.

The box was well packaged and came with the Mini Matte Box, the 67-95mm adapter ring, 72-95mm, 77-95, 82-95mm. This covered all of my lenses with the exception of a 62mm lens that I have and want to use, so I bought another SmallRig package that covered that range. I would have liked to buy the one range I wanted separately as I don't want to waste the other adapters that came with it.Shortly after buying this and using it for one project, I went ahead and purchased the SmallRig 4 stop ND filter for when I need to cut down on the ambient light from the sun without adjusting my other video settings. The filter system allows you to buy more and slide them in front. There is text and an arrow on the filter holder to guide you along as well as just looking at how everything lines up. Keep in mind that as of this writing, SmallRig only offers two filter choices. You need to buy the filter holder and filter each time you want more. If you shoot midday outside, you will be probably want at least two filters and one extra filter holder depending on your shooting style. Normally I shoot at 1/50th with and adjust the aperture depending on how much depth of field that I need if I don't need slow motion footage.The top flag is staying in place and not slowly moving down in the middle of recording. I'll update the review and with information regarding how well it is holding up over time. It is serving the purpose of keeping extra sun out of the lens and I'm avoiding that extra hazy look.

Smallrig Mini Matte Box is pretty neat assembly. You can use your regular CP or ND filters and fix them onto the lens if you don't want to break the bank on buying filters for the matte box because lol they are normally pretty pricey. Easy to install, instructions are very detailed and well written with pictures, and direction. It comes with adapters so you can properly mount the matte box onto your lens. Smallrig delivers again with this product in my honest opinion.

Made with just the right materials for strength and light weight.Able to mount threaded circular filters along with 4x5.65.Only suggestion would be the 4x5.65 should be a drop-in instead of side-mounted, but that would probably trade-off weight.

It's a clever economical take on the style matte box that clamps to a 95mm outer ring. This one has interior there that match the adapter size to allow for existing lens filters. The downside is that you can't just use one large one for all lens sizes... So it's a wash. The filter tray doesn't seem like it will hold up over time, but this item has been made to be lightweight, not durable and versatile.

Very impressed with this matte box from SmallRig. I never leave reviews, but I felt compelled to leave one on this because it is way better than I expected for this price point.Pro's:- Durable construction, with a carbon fibre flap and nicely chamfered metal supports- Lightweight- Perfect size for small/Run and gun rigs (mirrorless, DSLR, cine cams) I'm using it on a Zcam E2-S6- Filter tray is very easy to use- Thread support on step up rings allow for circular filter attachmentCon's- I do wish they included one more step up ring in the 58mm range, this would've helped cover a majority of lenses imo- This isn't direct to the matte box itself, but an option on Amazon to purchase an extra filter tray would be nice, I'm sure it'll be available on here soon though

82mm vnd filter doesn't fit on front element, whole setup is small, don't have space to fit vnd 82mm. Third class thing... Doesn't fit with 100mm either .

Absolutely loving this mini matte box. Smallrig makes great gear for intermediate level video products and this is another awesome piece of kit!Works great with my Sony A7C, perfect for filming on a sunny day and also most importantly, IT LOOKS SO COOL! 10/10!

Compact, light and assembly was straightforward for a few lenses such as Canon RF 70-200mm. It is possible to screw a round ND filter in front of the lens and it does not interfere with the front rectangular filter and the barn door. Overall good design. I wish all the lens adapters were included and not being sold separately.

Very handy on bright days and works great. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the way it tightens onto the adaptor ring. A bit of grease made it smoother but its still could be better.
