It worked but I made a few coasters first!
So my goal. I have about 90 gigs of data (files like word, excel, pdf etc) for my business that I wanted to backup to a single disc and then store the disc offsite in case of fire. I wanted to be able to stick the disc into any computer and read the files with out having to load software to read the disc. I have the LG BD-RE BU20N slim drive in my HP i7 sff desktop. I also wanted the disc to be permanent meaning you couldn't change it after it was burnt.I put all my files into a single directory on my pc which has an SSD for storage. I then put the disc in the drive (Windows 10 OS) and chose "With a CD/DVD player" (Mastered) as opposed to "Like a USB Drive" which allows changes after the files are burnt. I then copied all the files onto the disc. It had to fix a few names because they weren't compatible with the CD burning standard. After about 10 mins I was ready to click the burn button. I clicked it and after about 5 seconds I get an error saying it didn't work and the disc is probably not usable. $17 coaster. Now I have been burning discs since the original single layer CD media came out and back then we made a lot of coasters with buffer under-runs etc. So the first thing I did was check the firmware of my drive. It was 1.00 but there has never been any newer firmware. I happened to have 25gb Verbatum M-Discs also so I broke my 90 gb into 4 25gb chunks and those 4 discs burnt just fine.So I went back and tried it again.....5 seconds another $17 coaster. I figured maybe it was the drive which they don't make this model anymore. LG and Pioneer seem to be the two types of drives you can get so I ordered a full height ASUS external drive which has the Pioneer mechanism in it. Tried to burn with that drive...5 seconds later $17 coaster. The Asus drive came with software so I loaded that software. Now that software made it's own proprietary 90gb which means I would have to use that software to read the disc but at this point I wanted to see if I could get anything burnt on a 100gb drive. After about 30 mins of processing the file and about 10 mins of actual write time...another $17 coaster. Now I only had one disc left at this point. I figured what the heck. I put it in and this time I chose "Like a USB Drive". It prepped the disc. I then started to copy files to the disc and about 6 hours later I had a fully loaded disc. I could then read that disc in any computer that is Windows XP or newer. Only downside is you can change the disc. Someone could delete all the files. Ofcourse this is BD-R so you don't get the space back and technically all the files are still there just the FAT table has been modified but still it's annoying. For now I can live with the Life File System version of the disc. I was able to add files to the disc using either the LG BD-RE BU20N drive or the Asus BW-16D1X-U 16x External Blu-ray so both drives will work with this media. So if your doing what I was doing....choose "Like a USB Drive" not "With a CD/DVD player" and you will probably be successful also.

So far so good
I have had these discs burned, and they have been sitting on my side for a few days since then. Gotta say they look good right now. Will check back in year 3019 and see if I should give this product one more star.

Key lessons learnt using M-Disks
There are two kinds of people in this world - one who back-up data and the other who will start to back-up data.So the key variable I have to add is - you have to back-up consistently and continuously. Years ago I started to back-up everything, then I lost my drive and I lost some data, later to start to back-up again.Back to the disks - I used to have Pioneer BDR-XD05S drive. Some said that it is M-Disk compatible some that is not. Manufacturer was changing its mind few times, but in all written materials no M-Disk logo. I made 2 coasters of these disks. Well - you live and you learn. To use M-Disk your drive has to be 100% compatible, double/triple check with manufacturer. Check if disks are compatible with your writer as well. Verbatim has such a list.I’ve just upgraded to Pioneer BDR-XD07UHD drive and it works. Disk is properly written, with full confirmation of the write. I’ve also printed on the upside label using my Canon MG-7720 series printer (remember - INKJET not LaserJet). Software used - free version of CyberLink Power2Go 13. Files on the NAS not even copied to local hard drive.Heaving said that - I’ve read other comments and...a) Make sure you are using Disk burning software. It can verify if the burn was correct, Windows can’t.b) For archiving purposes close your disk (use DAO or TAO modes), disk which is not closed (SAO mode) is open to changes to its File System which may not be great if you want to archive.c) Disk capacity is 93.23 GB. As usual I am disgusted by marketing people. 1 GB = 1,024 MB etc.d) With 4x writing speed entire disk takes about 120-150 minutes to write and verify, sometimes even more depending on your computer speede) Properly name and describe your disks (‘My files’ is way too generic)f) Invest into cloud storage as well - you never know. Use cryptography to secure files. Remember to backup crypto keys.g) Make multiple copies - remember - minimum 1 copy has to be off-siteh) Every 3-4 years check your disks - observe read graph if it is consistent with your drive (CAS vs CLS). If you see any jumps - download and burn another disk / again. Technically this disks should last 1000 years but... you never knowi) Use common sense, Murphy’s laws, etc.Happy burning.

Scam - All 5 Discs do not work
I bought these discs to archive my photos. I also bought 1 external writer and not one of the 5 discs worked. I then bought another writer and the supplied discs worked so I tried the M-discs from this vendor and not one of the five discs worked.

Glossy shinny bluray 100G M disc
It looks very different with normal bluray R disc (record once) without Milleniata (1000 years) certificate. It has a black dark circle at outer disc

Discs worked well, Don't by the 25pk spindle
I'm happy to say I received discs that worked in my player. In other words, I got what I paid for. Not sure what the QC difference is, but the 25 pk spindle didn't work - none of them- and these did.
