Good Quality But Not Designed For Standard Meter Leads
What you should know is these are not designed for standard meter test leads. I have alligator clips on the ends of my test leads (Radio Shack) and have been using my wife's T shaped needles to back probe connectors, that has been working OK, but the needles are a little too large in diameter.I cut the hard plastic insulators back about a half-inch and can now clip my leads to these by inserting one of the jaws into the back end of these. I tried inserting the jaw without cutting back the insulation and it worked but did not have a good solid connection. The needles are small in diameter and the ends are sharp, you should have no problem back probing any standard automotive harness/connection. I also like the fact that they come with protective caps. Another good feature is the needles are connected to the female ends with a wire instead of having a rigid connection; they are flexible for tight spaces. They probably make these designed for standard meter test leads but these popped up when I ordered my Power Probe lll.An easy way to cut the insulation off is to use a sharp utility knife and roll the adapter back and forth (under a hard surface) until you feel it hit metal, then cut a line along the length down to the metal and peel it off.
