great romantic suspense
I’m a big fan of romantic suspense and this had everything I look for. Plenty of passion, intrigue and action. Damian meets Kerry again years after seeing her during an old case, now she’s not married anymore the attraction he felt back then is even stronger. They end up being pulled together because of a new case, where Kerry could be a witness or a suspect. Damian knows that she is a good woman and wants to work out what’s going on to help her. Even although he doesn’t believe in relationships (due to his work) he can’t seem to stay away from Kerry. This brings much interference and amusement from this family who are a great addition to the story. I loved their interactions with Kerry. Every time they think the case is finished something else happens to put them back at peril. I loved how quickly they both fell for each other and I loved how they showed they cared (I know). Thoroughly enjoyable read and I will definitely read more of this series.

Romance Wrapped in a Whodunnit
This is the first book in a series of interconnected standalone stories. There is also some crossover of characters from other series by the same author. You don’t need to have read any of the other series to enjoy this book though.Kerry met Damien, and FBI agent, when he rescued her from a kidnapping. She didn’t really like him at the time, plus she was married, admittedly it wasn’t a happy marriage but nonetheless she wasn’t free to act on any attraction to the handsome man, even if he hadn’t been an ass to her.Now Kerry is divorced and living in Durango, where Damien is now based. She own a bookstore, and when he walks in to buy a coffee sparks fly and neither of them can work out what kind those sparks are. When Kerry gets drawn into a case Damien is working on, her life is once more put in danger and he can’t resist trying to protect her.I really enjoyed this book. As always, Freya Barker writes about engaging, flawed and real characters who have life experience, which only makes them more interesting. There is passion and emotion between the two main characters. They are also surrounded by friends, family and colleagues, who also have distinct personalities and play their part in the storyline. What makes this romance more interesting is the very interesting and complex whodunnit wrapped around it. It kept me guess right up to the end, who could be the ‘bad guy’. The suspense part of the plot helps move the romance part forwards, but even without the romance that part of the story is interesting.I’m looking forwards to reading the rest of this series, as I believe the next book is about Damien’s sister, who was a major supporting character in this book.

New Series-I did enjoy it and be interested to see who is next
*Reviewing for ROCK HARD ROMANCE*'I may have come with an ulterior motive, but make no mistake Gypsy,I volunteered for the job for a reason'~(Damien)From the Prologue, which is set 2 years prior to the rest of the story,I initially got into this new series, the main character's (Kerry and FBI Special Agent Damien Gomez) caught my attention quickly, and the connection to The Cedar Tree series (Freya's first and one of my favorite's)was a nice touch. One of the things I like about this Author's writing,is the fact that her character's are older in years, and usually have some life experience behind them on their journey to their own HEA's.As the book blurb gives an idea of the whole concept, there is no need to go further into all that happens,it is a lengthy story, introducing character's that will no doubt get their own books as the series goes on,with the added bonus of some cameo's from the above series.Kerry has an attitude that has come to the surface after her divorce, which I did like, and the attraction between both her and Agent Gomez does gradually get to the point where lines are blurred and heat takes over.I did find myself getting a bit frustrated about mid-way ,with the added details/mystery surrounding the whole rare books investigation,I did have to put it down for a couple of days then return to it,however,on the whole, even with the break in my reading,I did enjoy it,and would re-read it and I am interested to see who is next in the series.

our main characters are in a place in their lives where they are happy, on a path that they believe is the ...
When Freya Barker announced that a new series was on its way , and that it would contain characters we’ve met before, straight away my interest was hooked. Keeping 6 is the first of what I hope becomes a long running series. All the Freya Barker hallmarks are here. A strong story line that first of all has you thinking one way, and then quickly sends you into a world that is so believable. Again ,our main characters are in a place in their lives where they are happy, on a path that they believe is the right one. Then suddenly it changes. Kerry and Damien at first meeting make very different impressions on each other and at a second meeting opinions don’t appear to have changed. But events that revolve around Kerry , her book/ coffee store, soon have Damien front and centre in her life.A strong storyline , a beautiful location and characters that you can believe in are things that Freya Barker does so well & for me, make her books an automatic purchase.Another 5 star read for what I know will be another outstanding series

Loved it
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Great couple who start of not quite enemies but definitely not friends. Lots of intrigue, great story line and I love how their romance blossoms.

A nice read...
I enjoyed this book. The storyline was good, the characters well thought out and believable and it held my interest. The only small criticism I have is that I think the book was too long and could have easily been edited down a wee bit to keep the action more fluid. Still, a good read and I will be continuing with the series.
