When it comes to stability, comfort and overall function, the 3 strap kisumu can't be beat. That’s it returns once again this season in 3 colorways. Take your pick. Patent leather straps finished with a microfiber footbed, our signature patented rocker sole and non-marking outsole. Available in black, white and/or chocolate. MBT shoes are physiological footwear--the first footwear that has a positive effect on the entire body. MBT stands for "Masai Barefoot Technology." Their innovative design includes a multi-layered, curved sole which makes for a unique and rewarding walking experience. The key to MBT is its patented sole structure. The shank, PU midsole with Pivot and the Masai Sensor create a soft surface that is akin to walking barefoot on springy moss or on a sandy beach. This creates a natural instability underfoot, which activates the supporting muscle system and has positive effects on the entire body. Wearing MBTs significantly improves your gait and posture and relieves pressure on your joints and back. It also exercises a large number of muscles, whether you're walking or standing. This, in turn, stimulates your metabolism, burns extra calories and speeds up muscle regeneration. In addition, MBTs can have a firming effect on abdominal, leg and buttock muscles. Wearing MBT shoes can also be a therapeutic tool for back, hip, leg and foot problems. At MBT they don't believe in shoes. They believe in footwear that makes you better from the ground up.

Gotten Better
I have been wearing MBT's for many years. I was so disappointed when they went out of business. The company was sold and the newer versions of the Kisamu were not as comfortable as the original ones and I could not even wear them. Now it looks like MBT is back again with all new styles and a even better bottom that will not blow out if it gets wet. These new version of the Kisamu are not as comfortable as the original as they have more narrow straps and not the same padding but they are much improved from the last ones and are quite wearable. They have a smaller profile than the original ones which is nice for a more feminine look. You do have to be careful that when you close the velcro it is right in the middle of the strap so it does not touch your foot or otherwise they will rub. This is due to the more narrow profile but if placed properly they seem to work pretty well.

Improved Look With Same Great Feel!
I have worn MBTs for many years and these are real improvement over the earlier version of Kisumu. They are far less clunky looking and just as comfortable. True to size, there is no need to buy a size larger because it will just be too long. As the tag on the shoe reminds you, the correct fit is to have the heal at the end of the sole. I am happily retiring my last pair of Kisumu (now seven years old!) only because they are dense foam on the sole is finally flattening and crumbling off. No complaints here! These sandals really hold up to hard and long wear, as they should for the cost. It took only one wearing of the new pair to get the straps adjusted to a comfortable fit.

Very well made
I have bad feet, no arches, and these sandals give me the chance to walk with a bit less pain. Thank you!

It really rocks! Have to get used to it.
I still have a problem with rubbing near the ankle. I hope once I break them in it won't bother me.

I used to collect Ferragamo shoes. Now I collect MBTs. I wear almost nothing else since crediting MBTs with helping me to walk again without pain. I'm finding that I'm wearing this pair more than I had anticipated -- I don't wear much brown -- because it is so comfortable and does seem to go with a lot more than browns. Sizing with MBTs can be tricky though. I'm a true European 36 and true American 6, but sometimes MTB tries to tell me a 6 is a 37, which for my foot it isn't.

The shoes fit well, but are different
The shoes are approximately the same size as the last shoes that I bought. The old MBT shoes were wonderful. I could walk 2 hours on the treadmill - 10,000 steps and not a blister or rub anywhere.I've had the shoes for a while and only wore them on the treadmill. The new shoes were worn while I worked on the computer the day that I got them. As it turns out, I got out of the computer chair 3 times and walked a very short distance. Then I pulled the shoes off because they were already rubbing across one of my toes. The skin had rubbed off (bleeding) and the heel strap had rubbed. The straps are smaller and not padded as they once were which eliminated blisters and rubbing. I'm disappointed because I will have to wear socks and moleskin again to walk the long distances, but do like the arch support. It would be my hope that MBT goes back to the padded straps. Thanks!Beverly

Straps are adjustable for a perfect fit!
Love the rocker sole. I have a fused ankle and they help me walk correctly.

Not the same as the original MBTs!
Unfortunately the others who have reviewed these MBT unfavorably were correct. They are not the quality of the MBTs of the past. I have had two pair of these Kisumu sandals which I wore for over 10yrs!No complaints! These are less sturdy, have no padding on the straps making them stiff and blister producing. I only tried them on and walked across my living room and noticed Immediately that they were making a sore area on two areas of each foot. They are going back. So disappointed in this product!Did not know that they were not made the same as the originals.
