Good addition to an inflatable kayak
I started using my new Advanced Elements inflatable kayak with the seat that came with it. That seat did not provide any support for my lower back, which tired after 45 minutes or so paddling. When I looked into possible solutions, this seat with lumbar support seemed the obvious choice, since it is made by the same company and designed to be used with my kayak. The new seat has worked well. It is very easy to inflate and provides quite abit of support for my lower back. On my last outing, I learned that it’s important to get the seat positioned just right, and I didn’t feel as much support as before. But now I think I’v Figured it out.One other comment (and the reason for 4 stars, not 5): neither the original seat nor the new one props me up high enough(and I’m average height male). I now put a small plastic swimming kickboard under the back half of the seat. This lifts me up to the best height for paddling and also tips my pelvis forward a little, which helps me paddle efficiently.

Very minor upgrade to the standard seat.
It works. It’s reasonably well made. But it’s not that much of an improvement over the standard seat. If you have back problems, maybe... For me the marginal improvement didn’t justify the cost at all.

Advanced Elements hi-back kayak seat
I recently purchased a 2-place Advanced Elements kayak. The seats it came with are good but a little narrow on the bottom and tend to slide around a bit. I was hoping a wider seat would be pinched by the side tubes and stay in place a bit better. So I ordered the slightly wider model shown here. Fortunately for me I received the more deluxe hi-back model, which is just as wide as expected but has a taller back. The seat is well made.---------While the extra width only helped a bit, the extra height is appreciated. BTW, the tube shown in the photo inflates an air bladder in the back, not the seat. I didn't find that feature worth the trouble.---------Like all Advanced Elements seats, it comes with those hard-to-get plastic clips that attach to the Advanced Elements kayak side chambers. These clips are handy for attaching other items to your boat. So I took the clips off my original seat (hard to do since they are sewn on) and made a couple of restraining straps to clip on stuff (water bottle/camera/drybag). [There are extra clip areas on the Convertible model because there are 3 positions for seats.]--------Overall I am happy I purchased this kayak seat for my Advanced Elements Convertible (2 place 15' kayak), even though I didn't need it. NOTE: It will not work with other brands of kayaks because of the unique plastic clip attachments (rather than the usual brass snapclips.)

Great support
Due to this having a thin seat, I put it on top of my existing seat on my inflatable. It made a huge difference in the comfort of the kayak. Advance elements also has great customer service. I contacted them about another product and they were quick to respond and very helpful.

Great Advanced Elements customer service
Three years after purchase finally take seat out to go kayaking. No lumbar bladder in one of the seats ordered. I then call customer service at Advanced Elements and tell Ritchie the problem. He says "no problem- send receipt and picture of missing bladder". I do as asked and 3 days later I have the lumbar bladder in my mailbox. Excellent customer service by Advanced ElementsThe seat and lumbar support are much better than the original seats that came with my StraightEdge kayak. I recommend these highly for back support. Only wish the bottom pads lifted the paddler out of the bottom of the kayak better. Overall very pleased with purchace.

Seat comfortable for hours!
Great improvement. We usually go for four or more hour trips. could use a softer seat as I have the drop stitch floor and it is hard! Going to order one for my wife.

Seat works okay
I did not think the seat was much better then the one that came with the kayak. It has the lumbar support which is okay nothing that great. I have an Advanced Elements Sport Inflatable Kayak.

this is pretty much essential
If you have an AdvancedElements Convertible Kayak, this is pretty much essential. The original seat is roughly equivalent to a piece of cardboard. This is a real seat. It's comfortable, and the back is adjustable. There's two pockets on the back, which you can use for water bottles or other stuff, but it's a tight fit.

Does not clip together
The clip in the backside of the backrest does not have a female clip. It has two male ends only......not sure how you are supposed to clip and tighten the backrest to whatever object you are trying to seat yourself in. This is a major defect. Too bad. It’s a really nice portable seat.

Very comfortable
Much better than the regular seat, has a much higher back on it and when your back starts getting sore can use the lumbar option, could only stand to be in regular seat for a couple of hours, this one I can be in it for 4 hrs easy, but has no velcro to hold seat from slipping and be nice to have a thicker seat bottom on it

Saved my back!
Way better then the standard seat. I found that my back would begin to ache after a couple of hours using the standard seat. This seat was taller, stiffer and with the adjustable lumbar support - very comfortable. I was in the Kayak for a total of about 8 hours over two days - very comfortable and no sore back. I wished it was the standard seat!

Satisfied, no issues.
I have not used the seat as yet, but it looks to be typical Advanced Elements design and quality, and an upgrade from the standard seat. Looking forward to trying it out.
