Transformers Generations Titans Return Deluxe Autobot Topspin and Freezeout

For the purposes of this review, I'm going to compare Titans Return Topspin with the original (see the picture of them next to each other). The G1 version (and his brother TwinTwist) were never in the actual show. Their transformation was simple, the legs were permanently attached and stiff, and simply folded over the the head. You could pull them back and let them go. They'd speed forward and the spring loaded legs would flip up, in an instant "transform". It was interesting but the figures had that typical brick feeling. Now, we have Titans Return Topspin (and like the other Titans Return, he is now a headmaster). Night and day. Great articulation. The transformation is a little more complicated but the detail in both vehicle and robot modes are far better, giving him far more life and vibrancy. I was excited to see him released with the new wave of Titans Return and had to buy him immediately. I am not disappointed.

Awesomeness

If you are a fan of G1 boxy, block, bots then Topspin is the action figure for you. I had a knock-off of a Topspin jump starter in the 80’s when I was a kid. I loved playing with it as much as the official Transformers.Fast forward to this day and age Hasbro has unleashed the Titan Return line and it is a good line of toys. Topspin has a fair amount of articulation points that can allow for some really nice action poses.The head master Freezeout has the standard fare of two modes a small robot and a head which can be used on other Transformers that are part of this toy line. Topspin has a nice head sculpt; I totally dig the blue mono visor that he is rocking. Topspin’s vehicle mode is a huge update to his G1 form with a transformation that caught me off guard. Usually you can eye ball the figure and its alt mode and guess what goes where. Topspin however Spins that concept around {these are the jokes.} with a lot of interesting engineering choices. I would definitely recommend this figure to old and young collectors alike.

Has a hollow chest in robot mode and the wings flap about as a drunk chicken would, but I like it.
