Is it waterproof? I want to attach it to my swim buoy.

No. The back, where the wind chill chart is printed is poster board or some kind of heavy paper. That part is exposed and not waterproof.

I will be keeping my insulin in an insulated case with gel ice. Will this work in the case. I need to know temp of my insulin.

I have had this small temp gage for about 6 weeks .I pin this on my outside jacket pocket and walk 4 miles with it 6 days a week. This is not to expensive but moves around on the outside of my jacket pocket on my walk and still works great.I check it couple times a day and i think if its off maybe only 1 or 2 degrees if that. I am pleased with this temp Gage.
