Smiths makes a great ceramic. I work with knives everyday with my work, USDA inspector, and it has performed better than expected.

Maybe for honing, but not for sharpening.
I was looking for a short sharpening rod for travel. This was the perfect size, but it doesn't sharpen at all. Maybe good for honing, but if the knife needs sharpening it doesn't work at all.
