YES, you can cut off the upper and lower torso straps!
This is a very good small-sized backpack that can be used for travel. Although a 10L pack may be more ideal in some scenarios, I can fit my 15-inch Macbook in this. The Magma Brown looks much better in person than the online images.Also, I found the upper and lower straps that wrap around your torso to be very annoying. Luckily (or maybe this is intentional on the part of the designers), you can cut them off and completely remove both straps such that that there are no cuts/damage remaining on the pack once your done. The only thing that remains is the small plastic loops on the upper shoulder straps and that plastic strap-resizing thing from the lower straps, which is sowed into the backpack.

Excellent use for office material
I am a teacher and I use it everyday for bringing my laptop and papers. I prefer it to big large handbags!Zipper and a front pocket makes it easy to save some items like keys and/or pens and few others.

Super lightweight functional bag
This bag is fabulous for travel - super light material and very functional. I know the light color will probably need cleaning but it was too cute to pass up. Comfortable to wear too with Osprey quality
