Despite the title, this is not a reference work, but a primer on developing ELT pipelines, with introductory discussions of many topics related to that overarching focus.Because it touches on so many topics, this would be an excellent first resource for software engineers looking to move into data engineering, new graduates finding themselves in a data engineering role, or technical managers wanting a short introduction to the nuts and bolts of data management.Disappointingly, O'Reilly seems to have rushed this to market: there are many typos and minor errors, and some of the examples are too simplified to be informative.Overall, this is a well-organized and useful "quick tour" of the main activities within professional data engineering, but you probably won't read it more than once.

Good overview. Could have been normal sized tho. Feel like a giant reading it.

I have read the book though my oreilly account and buy this book. It is pretty good to understand the industry best practices.

It was very helpful for me with respect to setting up data pipelines. I wish it was a bit longer but nonetheless there is a lot of information packed inside.

This book provided a great review of data engineering as I prepared for interviews. It reminded me of the things I am currently doing but also introduced some steps that I should add to my pipelines.

This book covers a lot of concepts that might be helpful for someone learning about pipelines for the first time, but I would struggle to call this a "reference" book. I'm not sure what problem I'd have that I'd need to reference it for. I would say the code samples are fairly platform specific but also use case specific, so they might help, but it does hurt a bit to see half a page of text taken up by library imports and credentials.

I would (and will) order again from this merchant.

A great overview for the most important components of data pipelines. Especially for overlooked pieces like testing and data quality.

O livro se destina a fazer uma revisão dos principais conceitos/práticas no desenvolvimento de uma boa pipeline de dados. É uma referência (não uma Bíblia e/ou step-by-step).Leitura bem leve e com exercícios práticos (não destinados para ambientes de Produção em alguns dos exemplos). Mas vale a compra.

This is the best technical book I have read in a while. If you are working in data engineering, analysis or related fields you should buy this book right now, and if you are a team leader you should get the book for your team members.This is an invaluable reference for all kinds of common problems and tasks that you'll encounter daily that you will refer for years to come.The practical pocket size is fantastic if you want to put it in your bag and carry it around everywhere, but it's also an advantage over bigger books in that it needs to be clear and concise as it doesn't have any room for "filler".

Je suis en conception de base de données et l’on n’apprend rien d’utile. J’ai plus appris en 50 pages dans ce livre-là qu’en 2 mois de cours. Je le recommande fortement à ceux qui travaillent en base de données et veulent encore avoir une job quand tout va être rendu dans le cloud.
