Soil conditions, moisture and sunlight and temperature will play a key role in your success. Much of the seed will germinate if properly applied and cared for. Beaware that the seeds are covered in a fertilizer skin. This can be misleding if you are buying the content based on seed weight. Fertilizers are 2 to 3X heavier than the seed. So when you by 16 ozs of seed, the question is what proportion of this mix is the lighter seed or the heavier fertilizer?It's like buying an extra large soft drink at your fast food restaurant when the cup is 90% ice and 10% drink.Ice, like fertilizers are much cheaper than the actual drink or seeds are. Be careful of this seed preparation and how good of a value it actually is.Buyer beware!

Worked great for over seeding. Not as thick as I thought it would be but may need more time to spread. Overall, pleased with the results.

I have used other brands and they caused excess weed and uneven grass. Pennington products are the only ones I’ll use on my lawn.Better than other brands! I live in the northeast and temperatures can change drastically from day to night and even between season. I’d recommend this grass seed to anyone with a lawn. Works best if you seed, water daily. Then seed again (overseed) once you get some growth. I also use Pennington Weed n Feed which works well too.

This seed works great as directed. Be sure to lay it in loose soil that is wet and keep it moist until germination starts. Then water once a day depending on weather. For the reviews that say these don't work it's clear from the photos it was not applied correctly. We added in clover flower seeds as well for natural erosion protection and aeration. We love the mix and so do the pollinators.

After waiting 3 weeks for this brand to grow I added other seed to area so now I am not sure which one of the two ended up actually growing.

Very impressed. I used this to fill in bald spots. It has started germinating with in a week of planting. I've only been able to do small amounts at a time. Some has been growing for over a month and some I planted last week just germinated. This will now be my go to on grass seed! I do water almost daily and I get 6-8 hours of direct light.

I have put the seeds on our lawn for about one month, and these grass seeds didn’t germinate much, they just turned into empty shells. I am not sure if it is because I didn’t do it in a right way.

I used it both in sunny and shady areas. I think it did better in the shade but it has been hot and dry despite my watering. The bag broke open on me so that area did well. Beware of any vertical tears in the bag that might occur.
