This does not fold very well, but we clipped two ends to the other side and then clipped two to an expedition bag. Bonus: Very tough. Went through horrific thorns no problem. Negative: Doesn't fold well. Bonus: You can see both sides, and put multiple sheets on the back of a large one if you have several small sheets and one big one.UPDATE:After using several other map holders, I would like to say that this was far more successful at keeping water out than some of the fancier ones that folded and had pockets for pencils and such.

The seal needs work
Nine days in canoes in Quetico Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada. My friend and I found the Mad Water to be difficult to either seal it or to keep it sealed. It's tough to say which was the case. In either case, though, the maps were wet and the inside became foggy. Good thing the maps were waterproof or they would have deteriorated over time.On the up side, the built-in clips are a great idea. The other map case we used (SealLine) did not feature those. I had to use carabiners to hold it in place and they didn't keep the map as snug against the backpack.

Like an idiot
I am a kayak guide and purchased this item to hold my map and compass on trips. Early on, the zip-lock stopped sealing efficiently. It would take a lot of work to get the complete seal, and often that would become undone letting water into the case. About a month after the purchase, a hole formed in the bottom of the case. Like an idiot, I kept using the case and one day the compass fell out into the ocean. I finally called to get a refund and even though the one-month reimbursement period ended, they allowed me to send it in to get a refund. I intended to send it back and then give a bad review, but I missed the return date so now I'm posting this review with a clean conscience.

While none of my paperwork has been destroyed, unless the pack is kept completely flat, the seal will open itself, no matter how careful I am. I have added duct tape to keep it dry.

Great for keeping documents dry
Great for keeping documents dry. The surface is fine for using alcohol pens on, but cracks easily when folded. Make sure you have a pocket large enough to fit it without bending.

With this case, AND A DRYBAG, you'll keep your map dry.
An unbelievable piece of junk. No matter how you try. No matter how thorough you may be. No matter how many times you double-check the seal, I guarantee that it's not going to keep your book dry. The zip on this thing popped all the way open, even when held firmly on a flat surface so the case wouldn't flex at all. In the end, I had to put my (water damaged, 30-year-old) book in a dry bag for the entire trip, unable to access it and therefore, unable to get at its gems of river information.

AR maps
Just the size I needed for a AR map. Too mad they require so many words to post this .
