Works great on smoothing down small metal pieces
We use it for smoothing down edges of small cut metal pieces and it works great and much faster than a grinder!

Quite adequate for knife sharpening
This is a pretty generic sander that comes out of China under a slew of different names but it's really pretty good as a light duty knife sharpener. I'm fairly certain it's identical to the ones from Harbor Freight and Grizzly that everyone seems to like. There a several Youtube videos showing how to set it up out of the box and many of them recommend taking a file to expand the travel of the mechanism that retracts the belt tensioner. I did that and it made changing out the belts quicker and easier. I also built a wood stand that tips it back 45 degrees. The sander stays attached to it even when stored on the shelf. For knives I use an angle guide that slides into place (19 degrees) as well as 120 and 600 grit belts followed by a leather strop belt and some green buffing compound.

For the money, no complaints.
I have this on my bench with a self-made 6” disk sander, and my Baldor grinder/deburring wheel. It gives me a kind of grinding/sanding I need for small tasks. It has plenty of power, a small footprint and you can plug in a vacuum dust collector for larger jobs. Harbor Freight sells it cheaper though.

Great little machine
Wow! Nice results from this little sander. Very happy with job. Cleaning a breeze but be prepared to clean it out alot due to small size.

You get what you pay for, and that's alright with me.
For $60, I'd buy another. This isn't the highest quality sander, but it's pretty inexpensive and gets the job done. I have had a few issues with it, however, 1. The tracking knob came completely off and I wasn't able to adjust the tracking. I epoxied it back on and it worked ok for a while, but it eventually popped off again. I just ended up grinding the flats on the back of the captive screw that adjusts the tracking so i can turn it with pliers. 2. The adjustable roller for the track is sticking for some reason to the point where the machine locked up. Probably just dirty. I admit I didn't clean it out as often as I probably should have. I'm looking into it now. All in all, it was a great workhorse for all of last year and I'm sure once I fix the roller, it'll run fine. It's plenty powerful for small woodworking tasks and I'm sure you could do some metal grinding on it as well. For the price, I'm ok with having it be a bit of a project to fix. When it's working fine, it's working great.

It’s suitable, remember it’s light duty. If you don’t force it let machin do the work it’s great.
