Review: Best liked - As we were picking books for a biography book report, not one of my girls (out of 7 of them) was very interested in this one. I, the mama, went ahead and added it to the list anyway. To our 13 year old's surprise this is the book she decided to do her book report on and liked best. Even more so than the book she picked. She was very encouraged by it and found it to be an easy read as far as written in a flowing and engaging way. Review: Granddaughter LOVES these books! - Granddaughter LOVES these books! She is in 2nd grade, but is an advanced reader.

A Good Introduction to a Great Woman
I read Who Was Joan of Arc a chapter a day with my eight year old grandson. He loved it, and I was very impressed. It is written simply enough for an eight year old without "writing down" to a childish level. It tells the story of Joan of Arc and the history of the time in a way the informs, educates, and captures the mind and imagination. I too learned some things I had not known, and the final chapter brought a tear to my eye. My grandson had me send copies to two of his cousins. Highly recommended.

Very excited to read this book with my kiddo's as part of our history unit in our home school. We love how easily these books read for a variety of readers at different levels and they are easy to understand too :)

read it aloud to my daughter while in France
My 6 year old daughter really liked it although I skipped anything about torture. Would be perfect for slightly older.

This 100 page soft cover book provides a very good over view of Joan of Arc for young readers and people new to the subject. It is concise but fairly complete and straightforward to read. I’ve always been fascinated by Joan of Arc and have read a few books about Joan and the hundred years’ war. Joan is one of these inexplainable historic mysteries that continues to fascinate me. As such we have been to Rheims, Orleans and Rouen, significant places in her life. So this is a great introduction to the topic for our daughter as well who loves to read about famous historic characters, preferably the female ones. I initially bought these books for guided reading. But that takes too long to the taste of my young reader. So whenever I order a new one, she usually grabs the book and finishes it in one go, which is equally fine with me. I must admit that I wasn’t too impressed by the series initially, mostly because of the presentation , some have mediocre art and illustrations and only in black and white. Nevertheless the content is quite good as is the selection of topics. And like the other books in this series it has several single or double pages dedicated to specific topics relevant to the story, these provide more detail and background, which is quite good really. Some of the topics in this book are Mont Saint Michel, medieval coats of arms, the inquisition and saints.

Bought for my daughters confirmation as she has chosen Joan of Arc as her saint. Quite disappointed with the book considering the price.
