A Lady's Review - It's pink, and tough. Pros, and Cons.
I have purchased Griffin cases for all of my apple products. I love them. I have had one for my iphone 5 for the past 4 months. I love my smart phone...possibly to an unhealthy extent...and I want to keep it safe. Cons: 1. It made my slim, sexy, little iphone 5 into a monster. Seriously...it like tripled the size. It went from sleek iphone 5, to cartoonishly silly, pink, monster phone. I like pink, and I like cartoons. *shrug* But, I'm saying...if you're say...a professional, wearing a power suit...you might feel a little silly whipping this sucker out. 2. Having to open the little flap to take a picture, is kind of a pain at first...especially when you want to capture that funny kid moment. I got used to it. *shrug* 3. The cartoonish size, and the non-slidy rubber, make it hard to fit into designated "phone pockets" in purses. Since I usually use the outside zipper pocket to keep it quickly accessibly for when the school nurse calls (boys...sheesh)...it hasn't been a big deal for me. 4. It lowers the sensitivity of buttons a little bit...especially in the corners. It bugs my husband, but not me. Who cares...it's MY phone. *grin* 5. The clippy thing...if it was on...it would double again the size of the phone. I don't use it. Guys might...but, I have a purse. Pros: 1. Otterbox makes a similar product (my sister has it), but it has hard plastic on the outside. The rubber on this one, makes it so it wont slide when I set it down...on the passenger seat in the car, on the center console, on my knee, etc. Anytime I am waiting for Soccer practice to be over. 2. While talking on the phone, I tripped over a stool my kids left out, and my phone flew across my garage and hit the cement...hard. It was like a slow motion sit com moment..."Noooooo!"...The call was still in progress when I picked it up. *jaw drop* Griffin...FTW! 3. It's giant and pink...easy to find in my purse...easy to find anywhere. Very distinctive. 4. I have a black one on an iphone touch...I'm forever losing it in the depths of my purse...but, the black looks pretty badass. Like..."yeah, I need this case on my ipod touch, for when I'm parachuting into foreign countries as a secret agent." I dig it. 5. When the screen gets all mucked up from my kids sneezing boogers on it, or smearing peanut butter on it...I love that it's not the "real" screen, and I can just get a damp rag, and clean it up. Also when the screen gets all scratched up (which it will, I am the mother of 4 kids), I can just replace the case, and my precious iphone will remain pristine! All in all...I love this product. I WILL be buying it again. Maybe I will go with Orange next? Or...green?

Fantastic iPhone 5 Case!
This is a seriously protective case for the iPhone 5! Though, I would never put it to the test like Griffin does! The case consists of 4 parts: 1. A plastic shell for the bottom and sides of the phone. This has holes for all ports, speaker, etc. 2. A thick rubber cover that locks over the plastic shell and provides tight fitting covers for all ports, camera, etc. This covers the bottom, sides, and provides a raised ridge of rubber above the screen. 3. A plasic screen cover that locks securely onto the rubber shell. This does include a screen protector. 4. A clip on rotating belt clip. The clip pops open and locks in a position to provide a stable "landscape" stand to watch videos, etc. The belt clip also locks in the closed position if you wish to keep the jaws from opening and getting caught on your pocket when sliding it in, should you not want to clip it. This case is very substantial, once on the phone you cannot see the clean lines of your iPhone 5 any longer, but you know that the $800+ investment is quite protected from damage and the elements. I wouldn't call it water-proof, but I would say that it protects against small amounts of spillage and major dust. The only con I have found is the plastic screen protector is raised above the screen and it takes a bit to get used to what is needed for touch controls with it on, especially if you are used to using the phone without a cover or a screen protector. But once I got used to it, it hasn't been a problem. So far, no one has complained they can't hear me with this on, and I have had no problems hearing callers when using the phone in regular mode and with the speakerphone. I highly recommend this case to protect the investment in the iPhone 5. They don't call it the survivor for nothing!

Great Case! Protects the phone !!!
I recieved this product quickly and in excellent condition. My husband is a big fan of griffin survivor cases. He is very rough with his phones and has never had a phone break or damaged when in a case of this type. He had a griffin case prior to this one, and the camera flap finally broke up leaving his phone exposued at that area, so he immediately ordered another case. He is very happy with the case. He said he realizes it the same case as the case prior, but he seems to like this one better for some reason. The price of the RED case was unbelievably low, that he decided it was worth the savings and he could tolerate the color. He has now decided the color is a plus, it doesn't blend in with things on his desk or in his vehicle. The RED color is very bright and hard to misplace. This case still has a flap you have to move to utilizize the camera on the iphone 5, but other than that feature, he loves this case! It came with a belt holder that is very sturdy and holds the phone safely at his waist.

Military-Grade Protection for your iPhone
Update on previously published review: After a couple of months with this case, I have some additional nits to pick: 1) The silicone is STILL hard to dislodge, so when I really really want to take a picture or movie, I have more than once missed the moment because I could not uncover the camera lens. Major drawback, especially compared to Lifeproof's optically-correct cover instead (I had not heard of them until recently; top-end price, nice features). 2) The back of the case does not lie flat any more. One of the silicone flaps is a bit over-sized, creating not only an unseemly ripple but a potential means of ingress for water, dust, and other undesirables. 3) The case is bulky and easily dislodged from a belt. Good thing it is so shockproof, because I've bounced it off pavement from belt-height more than a few times. I must say, the phone is fine, but if it hadn't been so large and prone to grab things, the case might have had to work a little less. Original review from here on out: I previously owned this case model for my iPhone 3GS, and when the little silicone flap that covers the camera lens came off going through airport security, Griffin sent me an entirely new case, though that loss was not under warranty. However, the 3GS case was a bit bulky and made some of the phone (especially the camera lens) hard to access because of the tight fit and slippery feel of the silicone. With this iPhone 5 version, Griffin has made some strong improvements to the case. It is more rectangular, the silicone is less slippery, and the shape is easier to hang onto. My only complaint with the new version is that the clips that hold the phone to the belt clip get hung up when you are trying to take the phone off your belt. The 3GS version was quick and easy to unclip, and I miss that. I have to take a little extra time getting the phone in my hand. It may wear in a bit and improve; I've only had this case a few days now. The clear screen protector is quite resistant to scratching and provides no barrier to the touch controls. The speakers are quite audible even through the heavy duty protection, and the look and feel of the case is sturdy, durable protection. One caveat: since the protection level of this case is so high, it takes some time and practice to remove and reinsert your phone. The screen protector unclips in six places, and then you have to peel off the silicone layer before you can pry off the hard plastic skeleton underneath. However, since I wear my phone on my belt for all kinds of activities, including wood-splitting, motorcycling, and hiking in rough country, the case has been worth every penny and every slight annoyance. It saved my 3GS several times from wetness and impacts, and I feel much better about carrying my new iPhone 5 around now that my case has arrived. If you are in the market for this kind of case, I recommend Griffin's highly.

OK item. Genuine Griffin Survivor case
You know how the iPhone 5 is a skinny and slick device? It's got some great design and it looks really nice. but unfortunately it's a bit girly and because it's so slippery in the hand, it is easily dropped, necessitating replacement screens, etc. and thus keeping Apple's spare parts market and repair industry alive. It's a phone which needs a case - a protective one. The Griffin Survivor case is definitely protective. It's got a plastic chassis under a silicone armour skin. It's as if the case was sent back from the future to assassinate John Connor. There are ports covering all potential points of water/dust/mud ingress and the design is great. Those of us who disliked the camera cover on the iPod 4G and iPhone 4S versions of the Griffin Survivor case will be chuffed to see the newly designed "swing away" camera cover. It's great. The charging port cover works with the charging cable. The mute switch on the side of the phone can be set easily enough. The volume rockers work as they should, as do the power and home buttons. Microphone and speaker volume (left speaker mainly) is OK and I use a set of earbuds with a 90 degree plug which fits and works like it should, meaning all is well with the world. Well... almost everything... I was displeased with the screen protector. It arrived badly scratched and the screen protector itself has gone all cloudy. I originally thought there was some sort of protective film which needed to be peeled off, but this was not the case. The inside surface of the screen protector is so delicate it can be scratched by a light touch with a fingernail. The cloudiness of the screen protector is only noticeable in bright light with the screen brightness set on auto. Set it to 50% brightness and the issue goes away while the screen is on. The only other negative I can think of is that the silicone will pick up a little dust - but you get that with most cases which have silicone components. The feel of the case is awesome. It is very grippy and makes the iPhone 5 feel more like a Samsung Galaxy SIII (that's a plus in my opinion). It turns a girly phone into a man's phone (that's a plus too). It's not too big for a shirt or pants pocket, and it comes with a belt clip. I personally don't use this clip, but those who do seem to think it's a bit of a poor design and gets in the way when taking photos or recharging. My case was ordered from DependableResource and I have confirmed with Griffin that it's authentic. It came with correct warranty details for my country and original packaging. Obviously there has been enough attention to detail in manufacturing this item (including the breathable, water resistant port screens) that it's clearly not the work of some underground Chinese sweatshop with zero quality control. I will probably be replacing the screen protector part of the case by epoxying on a replacement jury-rigged from a common screen protector, but even with this disappointment, I would still buy again. The product loses two stars for the dodgy screen protector.

The Griffin Survivor case for iPhone 5
I have read all the reviews talk to friends got opinions compare products I chose this one for the durability the quality, it comes with a belt holder and in my opinion it's the best solid case on the market. I've been using it for about four months now every day it has high-grade military specs so it meets military grade the price is great it's not a cheapie plastic breakable one layer case. I don't have insurance on my phone so I'm not going to go out and get some cheap plastic crap -I love the Griffin survivor case my sister loves it so much that she's now going to buy one for herself and the color that I chose everybody loves it's become a talking piece. I totally recommend it completely I don't know why people gave it a negative rating maybe they're not put it on right I don't know I never once had a problem with it not once and I've dropped it quite a few times. Bottom line the durability is incomparable to anything else along with the quality I have no problem getting to the buttons like other ones have and the high protection keeps it safe and to be military approved- that's good enough for me and I will buy another one when I upgrade to the 6 or 7 iPhone. If you're going to buy one- buy it from Amazon they are hard-to-find in the stores and if you do find them in stores you will pay a lot more...so you can't beat Amazons price you can't beat the durability of the product from Griffin it's a win-win!

Great case for early IPhones. No longer made by Griffin.
I bought many of these “Survivor” cases from Griffin back in the IPhone 5/6 days. You could mix & match colors to change the look of your phone. I miss that today with later IPhone models. One of the best protection cases made for early IPhones. Roger

Tough as nails
This is tough as nails. I had the same case in purple for my old iPhone 4, and only replaced it because the phone itself was getting so slow and old that I couldn't use certain apps, and text messages took about an hour. The old phone however still works and is in perfect condition because of the case. I've only had this new case for about 4 months, but it's survived a half marathon with mud and rain (and kept my phone in perfect shape). It survives a 3 year old and 6 year old who sometimes get ahold of the phone and drop it/spill on it. It has survived a student of mine spilling flower food all over it (and kept my phone in perfect shape), and a wet purse, which led to a wet phone case, but not a wet phone! The only reason you have to get a new one of these cases is because you upgrade to a new phone. My old case lasted 2 years, and had eventually lost all the water sealing components. This new case has already lost it's camera lens cover, but I am excessively hard on it, and take lots of pictures. I constantly move the pieces back and forth and eventually break them off, but my old phone spent months without these pieces and still survived spills and drops. The only problem with losing these water sealing components is that they keep it waterproof if the phone is immersed in water, so avoid that. I have taken my phone on many runs with this case, and when it has rained a few times and never affected the phone.
