Study Guide for Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Electrical and Computer CBT Exam: Practice over 400 solved problems based on NCEES® FE CBT Specification Version 9.4

This is a must-buy for passing the FE - Electrical & Computer Exam
This is a fantastic resource. I passed the FE – Electrical & Computer exam on my first attempt. The only purchased materials that I used to prepare for the exam were the official NCEES Practice Exam, and the three Practice Exams and Study Guide by Wasim Asghar. The approach taken by Mr. Asghar for these books was perfect for something like the FE Exam. There is no text, explanations, or fluff. What you get with these four books is about 730 problems in total, which sharpen the skills needed to excel on the FE Exam. In addition to the Asghar materials, I also sprung the $200 for the Lindeburg book, and I literally only opened it once. Lindeburg's approach is to teach all of the concepts and theories, but the FE exam is taken by engineers who have already learned this material. What we need is an extensive set of problems with good solutions to get re-acquainted with the material, and Wasim Asghar's books provide just that. I personally supplemented these books with a few good YouTube channels to fill in some gaps that I had (Raiya Energy Academy for Electrical & Computer concepts, Gregory Michaelson for Probability & Statistics and Engineering Economics). Add to that the incredible customer service provided by Mr. Asghar, and purchasing these books becomes a no-brainer. On multiple occasions I emailed Mr. Asghar with questions that I had on certain problems and he replied within a day with an explanation, and detailed, handwritten solutions. He even emailed me on the day of my exam to ask me how it went, and then followed up with me when I received my results, with suggestions on the next steps, getting registered with the board, and beginning preparation for the PE exam. All of that being said, please don’t think that the FE exam is going to be exactly like these problems. The problems on the actual exam are stated in a much more abstract way than they are on these books. The problems in Wasim’s materials are stated in a straightforward way, where you know exactly what the problem is asking. Think of these problems as drills, exercising the skills needed to execute on the actual exam. If you master these materials, you will have all of the tools needed to perform on the exam. On exam day, you will need to use your engineering judgment and critical thinking skills to interpret the problem statements, weed out the un-necessary information, and determine which “tool” in your toolbox you need to use for the problem. But, Wasim Asghar’s materials absolutely provide you with all of those tools.

Great Study Book for the Electrical FE test
Here goes...I took the Electrical FE 6/25/2016 and received results 6/29/2016 that I had passed. I personally have been out of school for over 9 years so passing the FE has proven to be a challenge and this was not my first time. I think that this book is very much worth the time and price for anyone studying for the FE. I can not say that if you only work through this study guide that you will pass the exam. I used several resources in my study but this one book packs a lot of very good questions that will force you to become familiar with majority of the equations and tables that are provided in the FE handbook. I purchsed Lindeburg's Electrical FE review and honestly ended up not using that much. There were very few actual practice problems which is really how I learn. I know other reviews mentioned errors in the solutions. I do agree there were issues but I did not feel that they were that significant to leave me questioning if I had answered the problem correct. In working the problems that are provided in the text ask yourself how could the same problem be rephrased or what other type questions could be asked...this will greatly prepare you for the test. When there was a solution that did not include a step that left me wondering, I would look to text books or internet to research out. There is a wealth of information on youtube that is really good as well many Engineering schools provide information on the web to public if you will seek out. Be careful to stick to the content that is covered on in FE handbook and not spend huge amounts of time studying topics that are provided in much more depth than what is needed for the test. I know that I did many times...I only wish the same information was available when I went to school.

Wonderful resource to study for FE
I got this review book to study for my FE examination. As someone out of college for several years and a full time working Mom, it was no easy task to start my FE prep. Wasim's study guide was simple, easy to understand and worth every dollar that I paid for it. Highly recommend to everyone on this path of preparing for the FE examination.

Could be better, but it's helpful
This gets an extra star simply because the man is trying his best to help out examinees. The book has a few errors throughout, although he does have an errata on his website, so not much of a complaint to be said there (there could be more that have yet to be pointed out). It is a bit of a shame that it only focuses on the electrical engineering portion and ignores the math, probability, ethics, and economics, however the structural set up of the book attempts to familiarize you with the FE handbook and seems to replicate the general difficulty of the questions that will be asked. I think this should be used in conjunction with that other FE electrical engineering study guide by the other guy, but overall, a useful tool in preparing for the exam.

100% Recommended purchase
I recommend this book to anyone needing to study for the FE exam. Whenever I had a inquiry about one of the questions, Wasim would answer within the hour with a full page of scanned work of whatever I needed help with. He was very supportive. I bought two books, this book and the Lindeburg book that everyone else buys. However, this book forces you to learn from the equations in the reference table which is what you need to do during the exam. The variables and formulas used in the Lindeburg book were confusing since it was not consistent with the reference book. However, it is useful to have another study material since a few topics (mathematics, ethics, engineering economics..) are missing from Wasim's guide. I briefly skimmed over a few chapters in Lindeburg's book for math for a week and honestly it did not help much since there is too much information without enough practice problems. I crammed Wasim's book for a week before my exam without any additional practice test materials (and I ran out of time to study topics not covered in Wasim's book...), I was able to pass my FE just knowing about 70% of the material. Wasim is the man!

Great FE Study Guide for EE
The Study Guide covers most of the materials that could come up in the exam. While there are some wrong answers that were quite annoying, but for the purpose of study guide, I found it helped me a lot in terms of knowing what materials to review and what types of questions to expect. The practice problems were very useful as well.
