Its an amazing product. Suddenly I don't feel anymore that I will accidentally break my high-investment iphone and regret not getting a case. If anything the only drawback is that its a bit clunky- reminds me of my cellphones from 7-10 years ago. The phone isn't, the cover makes it. But then practicality wins over looks!

Best case ever, still a few issues!
The Otterbox Defender is the only cell phone case that my family and I use. We've had it for the 4S, 5, 5C, 5S and soon to be, several of the 6's.The Defender is the best cell phone case I have ever had. It really works! It does its job and protects your phone exactly as described in the product description. I have dropped my phone countless times. Once I even dropped it from about 6 feet high on to concrete and nothing at all happened to my phone! Of course the hard plastic of the case broke. That's what it's designed to do though. The best way I can describe it is by comparing it to a bicycle helmet. Helmets are designed to absorb the force from an impact and disperse it away from your head and brain. The important stuff. So if you get into an accident, chances are your helmet will break. Well the same thing applies with the Otterbox. It absorbs the force of an impact and directs it away from the important stuff, the phone! Twice now I've had a major drop and have had the Defender do what it's supposed to do. I had to buy replacements and even though they aren't cheap that's far cheaper than buying a new phone! One thing I do not like about the Otterbox Defender is the plastic screen cover. Honestly, the first thing I do when I get a new case is pop out that plastic piece and buy a good screen protector to replace it. I tried using it with the 4S and I hated it! It was way too loose and I had to press down too hard on the letters to get them to respond. So now I just pop out the plastic and toss. I'm sure it helps with water protection and dust protection but I don't really have a problem with that.Another thing that at first was getting the hang of taking the case off the phone. Some cases are easier than others but some of them seem just impossible to get open! Hard enough in fact that I've had to get a screwdriver to try to make it easier. Like I said, I think that eventually you do get the hang of it because I haven't been having this problem lately. The last small complaint I have about the Defender is in regards to the soft plastic outer shell. After a while, it has a tendency to stretch out and become loose. Especially at the bottom where the charging port is. Maybe this is because that part of the case is being stretched out over and over again because of charging? All I know is it's happened to all of my cases as well as my kids cases.Bottom line, despite a few issues, the Defender is still my go to cell phone case. I would recommend it to a friend and in fact have on many occasions.

Highly recommend Otterbox
Great durable case. I used to have an Otterbox for my previous iPhone 4 which worked well, but not as good as this new one for the 5c. The rubberized bumper that wraps around the hard casing is stiffer and stronger than the previous version which broke on the previous model. (Although Otterbox sent out a new bumper without any problems) Got this at a great price from Amazon which was considerably cheaper than in the retail stores.

Great case! Dropped multiple times and phone still works
This is a really nice, functional case. Used it for over 5 years. Dropped the phone by accident on several occasions and the phone still worked. In fact, when I got another phone of a different size, I just bought this type of case in the other size. Initially was concerned the plastic might age in a rather sticky, unpleasant-to-the-touch way, but was pleasantly surprised that the outer plastic stayed together well, and didn't degrade even over years of use outdoors. If you open the little latches too much for where the charger is and the silent on/off switch, they will eventually, and I mean over years of use, will get loose, but otherwise the case worked great.

Strong case, bad screen protector
Isn't great. Case is well made and looks like it will last. Screen protector is just a plastic window which doesn't lay flat against the screen. It spoils the display and makes the phone hard to use. Dust and grit gets in behind the screen protector and gets ground against the screen. I pulled it out and use a regular screen protector with the phone which works much better.

Way too bulky and prevents touchscreen from working properly
I agree with the other comments about the looseness of the clear protective screen which essentially made this unusable. I was looking for a case that provided a removable belt-clip holster that would allow the phone to FACE OUT when holstered. It was difficult to find one other than the very expensive Lifeproof which also seemed liked overkill unless you need really heavy-duty protection. I got the Otterbox despite the concerns noted in other reviews, but found it essentially unusable. Also, it is fairly over-engineered with three different layers and the inner one being a two-piece front/back hard plastic that clips together before the rubber outer seal goes on. The rubber outer seal is a relatively stiff/hard rubber which has an unpleasant feeling in the hand. It's *very* hard to put on and remove the outer rubber seal if you want to wipe the phone off, which you'll need to due to the issue that other reviews mention which is that the Home button has a circular cut-out that lets dirt in. It's also a struggle to latch and unlatch the attached rubber covers for headphone, microphone and USB ports. Yes, there's a little circle on the back that allows the Apple logo to show through - who cares if the case doesn't work. I looked long and hard and finally found a very similar product but much more usable, which also had the nice plus of being a lot less expensive. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C8B1SBO/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It shipped from Taiwan I think, but got her much more quickly than estimated - about 7 days or so vs. a 4 week estimate. I'd go with the Smays over the Otterbox if you're looking for a non-bulky and ergonomic solution. The Smays clip is much less cumbersome than the Otterbox but is still super-secure, and the rubber outer case on the Smays is a softer rubber (which feels better in the hand), less bulky, and easy to get on and off; and the port covers are much easier to use to access headphone/speaker and USB ports. The headphone/speaker cover has a small hole for the speaker part which is nice. The Home button, volume controls and on/off switch are operated with raised rubber buttons that work very well and keep those holes sealed and protected from dirt. I'd highly recommend the Smays over the Otterbox.
