Craftsman 3-Drawer Metal Portable Chest Toolbox Red

Craftsman has a corner on well built tool boxes. Price is reasonable for quality. Even higher priced boxes are not much better.

Exactly as expected. The empty box is quite heavy, fully loaded up this box will be extremely heavy. For my purposes, its to be a stationary tool box that will sit inside a shelf system and it works brilliantly in that respect. The entire box has a solid and sturdy feel from the smooth opening drawers to the latches and hinges for top cover. The drawers stay in a closed position when pushed with a little pressure on the right side of the tray so there's no chance of the drawer creeping back out, which is nice feature. The included diagrams show the drawer tracks can be oiled and drawers removed if needed. By default, when the top cover is down it engages a bar down the back of the box that locks all the drawers in place, this is helpful should you have to move the toolbox. The locking bar can be removed by tapping out a single large pin that holds that bar in place and the bar pulls out, which I have done. It does everything I expect it to, along with a nice look and feel, I'll have this for years to come.

Had this toolbox a number of years ago and really liked it, but I passed it along to a family member. Missing it and finding that the tool bags were not cutting it (no pun intended), I went on the search for a replacement. Was happy to find this and purchased. The toolbox is of sturdy construction and the doors slide easily, even when loaded. The drawers can be removed for easy cleaning or placement of lining material. The locking bar can also be defeated so that you can slide drawers out without opening the lid. Very happy with purchase, delivery and quality of this toolbox.

I bought this Craftsman 3-drawer toolbox to store bicycle tools, metric sockets, and hex wrenches. I have this great toolbox perched on top of a Craftsman middle box, which is on top of a Craftsman roll-away. This great box is portable. The drawer guides are smooth and work perfectly even when loaded with heavy tools. I have a larger Craftsman roll-away for my automotive tools that is over 30 years old. I bought that 30-years old Craftsman roll-away when I was a professional auto mechanic before going to college to become an engineer. That old Craftsman roll-away is larger but has the same construction as my newer Craftsman roll-away, which includes the 3-drawer top box. I use this new Craftsman toolbox for bicycle tools. Craftsman toolbox construction was perfected a long time ago, and they have not changed their sturdy construction not one tiny bit. The Craftsman tool box I bought 30-years ago, and the Craftsman tool box I just bought have the same rugged, and long lasting construction. I used a label-maker to mark what tools were in a particular drawer. On top of the roll-a-way, and middle-box is the tree drawer that is the subject of this review. The three-drawer that was the first tool box I bought for my bicycle tools and metric sockets, and metric wenches. All my bicycle metric hand tools are Craftsman.

This is a great product it you are really into handywork. I don't really do much fixing so I had no idea the tool box was so big. The tool tox I had I brought with coupons used from my older sisters smocking Virginia Slims. I collected her empty cigarette pack and turned them in for a free bright yellow metal tool box filled with a starter set of tolls and supplies. Most of the tools disappeared because my father and nephew borrower then and since the tools were so great; they neglected to return them. I still have a few of the tools; and the tool box was kind of beat up; so I thought I was replacing the old tool box with this extremely large new toolbox. When this one arrived; I was extremely shocked how large it was. I gave it away and brought a small one which more so suits my needs. I now see what people mean when they say measure several times before doing anything that is connected with size :) I would have giving the rate the full five stars, since it may be right for everyone else; but it was just not my size

I was looking for a new toolbox to dedicate to my bike tools and was quite surprised when I found this one. It is nearly identical to the 4-drawer Craftsman Toolbox I bought about 30 years ago, which still looks and works great. When I received this one I did a very close one on one comparison with my older one expecting the quality to be less, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the quality equal, there are some design improvements. The two main differences are the drawers on the new one are removable, and under the drawer handles where you place your fingers to open the drawer is larger and smoother than the old one. If I needed another toolbox I would buy this again without hesitation.

Great little tool box. A little heavy so you may want to limit how far you carry it, but that's not really that big of a deal. Handle is sturdy, drawers don't open until the top is lifted up. Only thing I don't like is that when undoing the two clips, the flap for the lock sometimes keeps the top from opening (I don't use a lock). Overall there is plenty of space, I keep electrical tools such as a soldering kit, wire, crimp connectors, and a heat gun in the top and smaller things like miscellaneous tools, a torque wrench, and cleaning supplies in the drawers. Latches and joints seems relatively high quality, no issues so far.

Was the perfect size from my teenage grandson to start on his tool box. We bought starter tools and he uses it all the time.. very fast service getting it here perfect size and just as advertised. Will buy from you again. Thank you
