The Power of Playing Cards: An Ancient System for Understanding Yourself, Your Destiny, & Your Relationships

This subject is vital for anyone who is into astrology, metaphysics, Tarot cards, or the occult. It will teach you much about your personality, skills, and talents, and those you love and work with. On a personal note, I have used this system to read the destinies of over fifty thousand people at numerous psychic parties and private psychic consultations. It is a crucial element of personality analysis. It and associated works (you might Amazon-search "destiny cards" for other excellent books as well) all come from the classic SACRED SYMBOLS OF THE ANCIENTS by Edith Randall and Evelynn Campbell, which is now out of print but available for like $100.00 on Amazon. These and some other books which you can track on my purchases, are well worth the price.

This book was recommended by Iain McLaren-Owens as a Primer for material based on Edith Randall and Arne Lein's work with this card system. There is a section missing in the descriptions of the planets, so i contacted one of the authors and she replied promptly!"Missing Jupiter (and other bits) from The Power of Playing Cards This is a very important missing section from Chapter "Your Personal Card Sequence in the Earthly and Spiritual Spread" on  page 26 of the book.  It goes just before Saturn. JupiterYour Jupiter Card signifies where there can be fortunate influences as Jupiter is usually considered the most beneficial planet. It can show where you 'think big' and feel optimistic. It is associated with inspiration, truth and searching for meaning.  It can bring an expansive influence, especially to do with money and business or just opportunities in general. Nevertheless, there can also be a danger or getting carried away through this planet, over-inflating the ego or becoming greedy and over indulgent. Usually it shows where you can expand your horizons, particularly through education, travel, religion, philosophy or an entrepreneurial spirit. For example, your luck in business would be greatly increased if you had a 10 of Clubs card here.  This would signify that if you think success and are truly enthusiastic about your plans you can manifest outstanding results. If your Jupiter Card is one of the royal cards, also lookout for special opportunities developed due to the encouragement or influence of another individual. Kings are usually linked to a strong man, Queens to a strong woman and Jacks can represent both genders. Two short lines are missing from page 309 (Chapter Your Destiny Years) in the 8 of Hearts section:Age 63 to 70: Js, Jd, 8c, 4c, 10h, 9d, QhAge 70 to 77: 2c, Ad, 2d, 7d, 3c, Jh, 4c Also page 21, (Chapter "Your Personal Card Sequence in the Earthly and Spiritual Spreads)Minor mistake, Ist line reads:  In order to understand your card you need to look at the layout of the two Spreads, the Earthly and Spiritual (Chapter 1, page 000)  This should read (Chapter 1, page 8 and 9).   Pages 3 to 7 in the book do not seem to be numbered."

Love it!So much info.I have been searching for a printed copy of Emily Peach's cartomancy book(available as ebook),impossible to find....this is a great alternative,in some ways better.I reccomend this book if you are interested in this subject.I am pleased.

this is the best book of its type I have encountered so far, better than Robert Lee Camp's "Cards of your Destiny" or others. Great descriptions of each card and the planetary sequence.

This book was not for me. The font is small I needed trifocals to read the book. It was complex to understand the concept the explanation or as someone said “The subject is vital for anyone who is into astrology, metaphysics, Tarot cards, or the occult".

BOUGHT AS A GIFT & HE LOVES IT! WHAT MORE CAN I SAY. HE IS INCARCERATED & NOT ALLOWED TAROT CARDS, SO THIS WAS THE SOLUTION.

After having studied Robert Camps books, and then they got burned up in a fire, along with my entire library, I wanted to replace them. So when I went looking, I saw this book. I thought I would give it a try and see if there was anything else that Mr. Camp did not touch on. Boy, was I disappointed! It isn't a tenth as in-depth as the others. I have found the birth cards to be quite accurate when reading about my family and friends. And myself. That is, the descriptions in Mr. Camps books, which I highly recommend. This book, however, just didn't cut the muster with me. And there is so much more than just a personality description. That is only a small portion in Mr. Camps books.

*Hintegrund*Wir leben in einem Kosmos. Das ist griechisch und bedeutet "Ordnung". Überall um uns herum ist diese Ordnung sichtbar, selbst in diesem Moment auf diesem Bildschirm. Aus einem unerklärlichen Grund trifft diese Ordnung auf den Menschen aber nicht zu - so meint man. Das ist natürlich absoluter Unsinn, denn wir bewegen uns als Menschen nicht außerhalb dieser Ordnung.Das auf den 52 Spielkarten von Ass bis König beruhende, hier vorliegende System ist ein Versuch, die individuelle Ordnung des Menschen beschreibbar und verständlich zu machen. Es begann Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts mit dem Buch "The Mystic Test Book" von Olney Richmond, erfuhr seine Fortführung durch Randall/Campbell's "Sacred Symbols of the Ancients" (das es auf Deutsch als Web Anwendung gibt - Disclosure: von mir erstellt), um dann von Arne Lein "What's your card" und Robert Lee Camp's "Love Cards" sowie "Cards of your Destiny" in die Neuzeit "übergesiedelt" zu werden.*System*Das System beruht auf einer Karten Matrix von 7x7 (Merkur bis Neptun, horizontal und vertikal) sowie drei Karten in der sogenannten Kronenlinie - 7x7 = 49 + 3 = 52. Diese 7 x 7 sind zumindest idee-identisch mit der Theosophie, die von 7 Welten und 7 Unterwelten spricht.Die natürliche Verteilung geht vom Herz (Frühling) Ass (Lernen, Wünschen) bis zum Pik König (Arbeit, Gesundheit, Weisheit). Durch einen Prozess der Quadration entsteht aus dieser natürlichen Ordnung eine weltliche. Diese ist der Ausgang für unser menschliches Leben. Die Quadrationen werden dann fortgeführt und kommen nach 90 Wiederholungen wieder zum Anfang zurück. 4x90=360 - der Kreis ist geschlossen.Jeder von uns besitzt durch seinen Geburtstag eine der 52 Karten ( 53 mit dem Joker). Dadurch ergibt sich eine Position in der weltlichen Verteilung. Aus dieser ergibt sich eine Folge von 7 horizontalen Karten (rechts nach links, oben nach unten gelesen), die den Menschen sehr genau (!) beschreiben.Durch die Fortsetzung der Quadrationen hat jeder Mensch für jedes Lebensjahr eine andere Kartenverteilung. Diese ist in etwa wie Scheinwerfer, die anzeigen, ob die Straße frei ist oder nicht. So kann man mittels der Karten zum rechten Zeitpunkt das Richtige tun und so sein Leben erfolgreicher und harmonischer gestalten. Noch einmal: Das System ist sehr genau in seiner Interpretation!Über sich selbst hinaus ist es auch möglich, die Beziehungen zu anderen Menschen zu lesen und zu verstehen. Das allein ist von unsagbarem Wert. Es lohnt sich also, sich mit diesem System zu befassen und mehr über sich und seine Mitmenschen herauszufinden.*Zum Buch*Crawford/Sullivan haben beide einen astrologischen Hintergrund und auch weitere Titel gemeinsam verfasst. Hier haben sie sich den Karten verschrieben. Das Buch ist recht knapp verfasst. Da es aber 52 Karten gibt und zu ihnen eine recht umfangreiche Interpretation, wächst der Umfang schnell an.Gefallen hat mir, was mir auch nicht gefallen hat. Die Autorinnen haben die Interpretationen für jede Karte sehr kurz gehalten, was für Anfänger gut, für Fortgeschrittene aber schnell unzureichend wird. Darüber hinaus wurde beim Lektorat etwas schlampig gearbeitet, da z.B. die Beschreibung für den Jupiter fehlt. Auch das Cover ist unsauber gedruckt (rechter weißer Rand).Das Buch ist dennoch ein guter Einstieg für einen - des Englischen mächtigen - Leser und macht Lust auf mehr, nämlich auf die Bücher von Robert Camp, "Love Cards" und "Cards of your Destiny", die sehr viel tiefer gehen als die kurzen Erklärungen zu den einzelnen Kartensequenzen unter den ingesamt 52 Karten.Der Inhalt ist in schwarz-weiß gedruckt. Zu Beginn wird ein wenig aufs System eingegangen, die Karten und Planeten erklärt, bevor es sich an die Interpretation der Geburtskartensequenzen macht. Hier wäre mehr Tiefe durchaus hilfreicher gewesen, aber zum Einstieg reicht es allemal.Problematisch (allgemein) ist, dass es ein Ursprungssytem gibt, welches dann von verschiedenen Autoren erweitert wurde. Da gibt es allerdings Diskrepanzen, da z.B. in diesem Buch (und auch bei Robert Camp) die vertikalen Karten in derselben Spalte bleiben, während Gina E. Jones die vertikalen Karten genau so legt wie die horizontalen, nämlich in der Planetensequenz und auch spaltenübergreifend. Hier muss die Erfahrung zeigen, ob die Interpretation der vertikalen Karten wirklich akkurat ist.*Fazit*4 Sterne für einen guten Einstieg in die Materie. 1 Stern Abzug für Unachtsamkeit und eine evtl. fehlerhafte Methode für die vertikalen Karten.

Although I haven't finished the book I can already tell I won't be able to put it down. Its clear, easy to read and simple to follow. I would definitely recommend this to a beginner or someone who has done most of their research on the internet and are looking for something a bit more in depth.

A favorite book

I haven't tried this out on many people yet, but the system in it is magic. Really accurate characterisations and a very different way of working with cards.
