Wolverine RIP
Collecting: Death of Wolverine #1-4Bonus: Variant Cover Gallery (14 pages) Sketches with Commentary by McNiven (11 pages) Interview with Len Wein (5 pages) Director's Cut (12 pages) Reflections from the Creators (1 page) Digital CopyWhile it is almost certain not to last, Wolverine is dead! His vaunted healing factor gone, Wolverine's impending doom was hyped for months. The story arcs leading up to the current collection are Wolverine: Three Months to Die Book 1 and Wolverine Volume 2: Three Months to Die Book 2 , so it didn't come as a surprise that Wolverine died--yet it was shocking all the same. This event will shape the Marvel universe for a long time: Wolverine's first appearance was in 1974, and he met his demise in 2014, but I doubt this will be his final appearance!Charles Soule's Wolverine story was a pleasure. The return to some of the elements from X-Men: Kitty Pryde and Wolverine was smartly done and rewarding for fans of classic Wolverine storytelling. Even with the outcome certain, I kept hoping that Wolverine would have an "out" and escape his fate. The story takes Wolverine to Madripoor and features some of Wolvie's best nemeses such as Sabretooth, Ogun, and Lady Deathstrike. The artwork throughout this collection is top notch. The oversize hardcover format displays the scenes with brilliant detail. The Wolverine in this collection is wounded and without his healing factor. Every SNIKT makes him wince and artist Steve McNiven captures that pain well.If you're a fan of the X-Men or even just Wolverine, this story is a "must read". The ramifications of the death of Wolverine have spun a couple miniseries: Death of Wolverine: The Weapon X Program and Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy . And Wolverine's death has created ripples throughout all the other X-titles, most poignantly at Logan's school (see Wolverine & the X-Men Volume 2: Death of Wolverine ).Even with Wolverine dead, the adventure continues as factions vie for his dead body! Just Read It. You Know You Want To.
Whether or not you find this event to be a big gimmick, it has probably peaked your curiosity. Is it worth reading? Absolutely. However, the story doesn't quite live up to its full potential and I can't help but feel slightly disappointed that they didn't invest a little more time and energy into the final adventure of such a pivotal character in the Marvel universe. For starters, it is short and lacks the emotional impact that should accompany a story with "death" in the title. If this is to be our goodbye to Logan, I'd have loved to see him tie up loose ends and resolve long standing rivalries while encountering old friends and allies along the way. Wolverine has affected the lives of almost every other character there is, both X Men and Avengers alike, yet the story felt oddly impersonal. While I believe these criticisms to be valid, I don't think it's fair to judge a product on what it isn't. What we have is a solidly entertaining and beautifully illustrated tale that, while somewhat anticlimactic, provides a satisfying end to a legendary badass. Over the years, Wolverine has faced off against some of the most powerful villains in all of Marvel and walked away triumphant only to fall to such a seemingly trivial threat of a much smaller scale. While that may sound like a bit of a let down, there was an elegance to it in that he was able to go out the same rash, impulsive, yet compassionate hero we have come to know and love all these years. There is one other reason to buy this book. It makes a great conversation piece. I've found people can't help but be intrigued when their eyes fall onto the cover and are often compelled to open it up and thumb through the pages. usually to the very end, of course.

Wow just wow,
This was an amazing journey through these 4 books. I am glad I made this purchase. Excellent story line and fantastic art. The added bonus material was fantastic also. Glad I purchased the version with bonus material. Kinda like a directors cut of a movie ~ only with the comic book art. If you don’t have this, you should.

Fun run
Everything ends. Though the Wolverine would outlive everyone, but even Logan can't outrun the end. Great story and fun art. Please enjoy.

Nice, but way too short!
The art is fantastic, but the story feels horribly rushed. Maybe if Marvel had included a synopsis of events leading up to this conclusion? Wolvie has so few lines and the enemy cameos are really rushed (hey, let's include Sabretooth for 4 pages- insert dynamic pose on a big splash page!). Old Man Logan and Claremont/ Frank Miller's original limited series did a far better job making use of the pages. Again, McNiven draws so well, it's almost forgivable, but it feels like a three hour movie that got cut down to an hour and a half.

Pretty good.
Was pretty much what I expected. Lots of twists, and overall entertaining.

DEATH OF WOLVERINE

Knowing the ending doesn't take away from its impact!
By the title of the story, you know what the end holds in store, but the emotional impact that it holds is not diminished at all (plus listening to the Logan ost really makes it hit home). The build up around the knowledge of the character's weakened state is played out very well, I just wish it went on for longer as I was so swept up in it.A story that I had great anticipation for that paid off greatly with a beautifully poetic and symbolic ending to the famed character.

Rip-off
As I am not an expert on Wolverine (and Marvel in general) I find him an interesting character. So after going through a couple of comics (incl. Old Man Logan, House of M, Ultimate X-Men, ...) and watched the movies I bought that one ... to sum it up - it's a rip off - almost half of the 144 pages are filled with sketches or whatever, and the story is lame as well.If you need to read it, at least go for the Kindle version, which is not too expensive.
