New Life for Your Performance Car's Engine
Jan 2021 Update : I'm still running these plugs in my 2006 Mini Cooper S after 5 years and 50K + miles of driving. These were a great replacement for the original Bosch plugs.May 15, 2015 review: I bought these for my 2006 Mini Cooper S. These platinum plugs, paired with a new Beru Central Ignition Coil and new NGK spark plug wires, made my car run like new again! It was starting to develop a bit of a hesitation when I stepped on the gas pedal, and the "check engine" light had come on. When I read the error code it was for a "misfire - multiple cylinders."I also inspected the spark plug wires, and found that a hole had worn in a part of the wire that runs to cylinder 3. I wasn't sure my CE-light was on because of bad plugs, specifically--or if the wires were also a cause of the problem. However, given that new plugs, new wires, and a new coil only run about $100, replacing those was a good first step to take at home prior to taking the car into a mechanic for a diagnostic test, which probably would have run more than that.Between these plugs, new NGK wires and the Beru coil my car is running like new again! It has a lot more pep, and the check engine light has stayed off after about ~100 miles of driving.

This is the correct OEM plug for your E46 Series BMW without BMW's mark-up
This is the correct plug for most E46 Series BMWs. The price is a small fraction of the dealer cost. It is of the same high quality as every other original part on your BMW. The other clear choice for plugs is the Bosch. Both are of equivalent, superb quality.BMW rates either the Bosch or the NGK plug for 100,000 miles when used on an E46. People who do their own work often change them at 50,000 miles and experience faster starts. Getting access to the cylinder head requires the removal of four "Torqx" head bolts which secure the cabin ventilation cowl the the front of fire-wall above the aft portion of the engine. This is the only real barrier to entry, and it is a deliberate one to keep tinkerers away from the engine. (BMW keeps the unskilled away from their engines by making the engine cover removal non-obvious). There are many good videos on Youtube on how to do this. If you have not seen someone else do the job before, the task will be made easier by watching someone else demonstrate the task for you, on Youtube. Understanding the interlock on the connectors to the spark coils which sit above each plug for instance, is non-obvious to those who have not seen someone do the job before. In this economy many people are doing their own maintenance who would not have dreamed of it three or four years ago. Many of the user forums and the videos available on Youtube offer excellent, step by step advice, on common procedures. These are an excellent aide to learning how to do careful, methodical work on these basic maintenance tasks.

original equipment for 2002 BMW 325ci
2002 BMW 325cithese are identical to the ones i removed from my engine, with one difference.the original ones say "NGK" on one side and " BMW " on the other..., where these new ones don't have the "bmw" letters, just the part #. and NGK...aside from that, I'm planning on buying these again when i reach another 100k...extra: these are the same OEM equipment, but at a fraction of the dealer cost, and if they last as long as the originals, I won't need another set for another 184,000 miles (yes, the originals seem to have lasted 12 years, as far as records go.another note: the image shown portrays a single probe over the electrode, where in fact these have 4 of them. So don't go by the image you see, go by the part number...My car was having a fault in cylinder 5, so i swapped 5's coil and plug with another cylinder that was behaving, and the problem moved to the new swapped cylinder, hence the purchase of these (and coils)... after i performed the tune-up, the car is driving smooth as silk again.

Perfect OEM fit for 2004 Mini Cooper S
Perfect replacement for my old spark plugs, pretty sure they had never been replaced in my Mini. Exact same ones that came out. I still add a little anti-seize to threads and a little dielectric on the top. I've never had an issue with doing so. You will need a long extension to reach down spark plug tubes. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. I always recommend replacing spark plugs when the engine to cool, otherwise expanding metal could "lock" the plugs in place when it cools.Paired these with NGK 54058 Spark Plug Wire Set also from Amazon. Make sure you are connecting the correct wires to the ignition coil if your coil and wires are not numbered. #1 cylinder is on passenger side, #4 is on drivers side of engine. No need to remove intercooler to change plugs on S model.P.S. if your plugs have oil on top of them like mine did, then you need to replace your spark plug tube seals, will have to remove valve cover to replace those.

2005 MINI cooper S - same as factory, and very good
Copied from my review of the NGK 54058 Spark Plug Wire SetBeing blue instead of black has to add at least 50 hp to my 2005 MINI cooper s. Also bought 4 newNGK (3199) BKR6EQUP Laser Platinum Spark Plug and my MINI has never run better.. Which is the truth, since I think the 4 I plugs I took out are the original from the factory and the previous owner never changed them in the past 80k miles..Regardless, was having missfires at low rpm when the engine was cold and under load, not anymore. Plus it idles a lot smoother, revs quicker, and significantly less vibrations make it through my semisolid engine mounts into the cabin. Would recommend.Plus they're blue!
