Could be tricky to set up, but once you figure it out it works
It's really mini. Smaller than what I expected. I like the size. At first I couldn't figure out how to pair with my headphones - but I just had to put my headphones in "pairing mode" which for sony wh-1000xm3 is by holding the power button for a few second. After that I was disappointed to find out how low the level of sound is - but it turned out I had to increase the volume from the headphones itself - the sony wh-1000xm3 have touch controls, and now they sound great. I'm tempted to leave one star review, so if you're like me and read only the negative reviews you would see this comment and know that "there is a way". I saw other buyers complaining that it worked only for short period and then it broke - I guess I'll have to test that. Overall I was looking for something small, simple and not very noticeable, that can fit in my headphones case, and I believe I found it. Jan2026 - update Just completed a 24+ journey from the States to Europe and the transmitter worked great . Battery held for over 13hrs flights. Didn't notice any delay in the sound. Admittedly didn't pay attention on the quality of the sound, as I don't expect Hi-fi sound in the plane, but I don't have any complains. My headphones connected immediately, without a problem. At first I panicked, as I couldn't hear anything, but I quickly realised I have to increase the volume from the headphones themselves. For my wh-1000xm3 - the right side of the headphones is touch sensitive and you can increase the volume from there. I aimed for about 50% volume from the headphones and then about 50% from the in-flight media itself.

Transmit mode works great! Stereo sound!
Edit: This item was earmarked for a certain project, but for whatever other reason, something in the setup was not coming through. The system works without this, so when it didn’t work when I added this, it seemed as though the issue (see original review) was with this new addition. However… I used this on my laptop and listened to it for atleast an hour. So, have to assume there was a disconnect between two otherwise working systems that didn’t like each other. I am changing my review to show that this gadget DOES work in transmit mode. I hardwired it to my computer using the AV cord that came with it, then used a Bluetooth headset. Worked great, AND in stereo sound! Original: I have been trying to use this as a transmitter connected to a Listen receiver in order for me to use Bluetooth earbuds with the system and it will not stay in transmit mode. It stops transmitting after a couple of minutes. I’ve tried unpairing and repairing several times, and it continues to stop transmitting to my Bluetooth earbuds. If it continued to work, it would do exactly what I needed it to do!! The idea is awesome, but it needs to work as advertised and it doesn’t.

Great value for the money, works with Sony WF-1000XM3
As I am sure is the case with many, I purchased this after seeing it listed by the New York Times in their portable BT transmitter review list. It was bought specifically to allow me to transmit BT audio from my computer to my Sony WF-1000XM3 earbuds. As the Sony earbuds only support SBC with these, I wasn't expecting stellar audio quality - I usually use them for lectures or podcast-like content, or for fairly low-bitrate music anyway. I wanted to see if the advantages of true-wireless earbuds were worth the sacrifice in quality before I invested in a more expensive BT transmitter and BT receiver+high-end IEMs. As such, I do not use the receive function, and I do not use the battery on the unit - it is always plugged in via USB. I did briefly test the battery though and can confirm it lasts at least 30m. Note: I went with this type unit, instead of USB, because I wanted to have the ability to test it in multiple environments, including while running and in the car for single-ear usage. Normally, I'd go with a USB solution for computer use in order to avoid the conversion of the audio to and back from analog. Initial Setup Dead simple - I connected the Line Out on my computer to the input on the transmitter, and alternately, the HP (headphones) out on my stereo receiver to the input on the transmitter. I also tried it with a Sansa Clip+ MP3 player. It worked in all cases, though with the WF-1000XM3 I had to keep the input volume on the BT transmitter under 30% and allow the headphones to do the real amplification, as otherwise the audio would distort. BT Setup Fairly simple. I put my earbuds into pairing mode, the transmitter into pairing mode, and they connected within 10s. Afterward, they maintained their connection for the most part, I've had to re-pair a couple times over the last three weeks, but that is mostly a learning curve. Re-pairing is easy - just hold the pairing button down for two seconds and place the receiving device in pairing mode. Range Unpredictable, and sensitive. If the transmitter is located on a desk, at least twelve inches away from other electronics, then the range is remarkable. I can leave the room, pass through the adjacent room, and enter into the next room - a total of maybe thirty feet, through two or three walls - and start to lose audio at the end. This is despite being only five feet from a wireless router. However, if I move the transmitter six inches over so it is next to my monitor, or a couple feet so that it is within three feet of the router, the earbuds will begin to drop out even at ten feet. So it is very sensitive to environment. Audio Quality Decent. Better than I expected, but I haven't used bluetooth audio in ten years. It can be hard to really gauge it, because the Sony WF-1000XM3 are true wireless earbuds and I can't A/B test them to compare BT quality to a cable. I would say that the BT audio quality is equivalent to that produced when my Sony earbuds are connected to my smartphone. While it is decent, it can't compare to wired earbuds of even fairly middling quality. You lose highs and lows. For dialogue content, lectures and the like, no issue. Summary Seems to be a great entry-level transmitter for the average consumer. I'm glad I bought it, because it is reliable and easy to use, and has shown me that the freedom of using wireless earbuds is definitely worth the hit to quality - I can always use my full circumaural headphones if I want to watch a movie or listen critically. Would recommend.

Works Great
I got this specifically for air travel. My old wired ear buds sounded terrible when I plugged them into the audio port on the airplane to watch the movies on the seat back screen. I tried this on my last flight and it worked great, the blue tooth signal went right to my wireless/bluetooth ear buds and sounded fine. Very small, compact, pairs easily, recharges quickly and can also serve as a receiver plugged into other speakers that don't have blue tooth. I don't use it frequently, and it will discharge slowly over time when stored, so recharge it ahead time if you plan to use it. A very practical and functional bluetooth transceiver for a very reasonable price.

I used this the replace a Bluetooth to FM transmitter in my car and the sound quality difference is astounding. My phone stays connected to this adapter even when I’m not inside the car, and even if I forget to turn it off, it turns right back on as soon as I get in the car, don’t have to wait for it to charge or nothing. Only complaint I have is that the charging cord could have been longer, but it’s not the end of the world.
