Skye's de-stress Secrets
Skye is guaranteed to calm me whenever I listen to her. Her voice is like honey dipped in chocolate, or akin to wrapping yourself in a luxurious velvet cloak. This is one very talented lady! Her lyrics are original and compelling. She delivers them with mastery and emotion. This CD is more laid-back than her last Morcheeba offering 'Blood Like Lemonade' but the more I play it, the more subtleties it reveals. Just like 'Mind How You Go' I am sure I shall continue playing it for many years to come. Do yourself a favour and buy this CD, I am sure you will never regret it. Highly recommended.

No longer a secret
I give 5 for the fast shipment, careful packaging of the CD and I am really assured that what I have received is brand new, factory sealed and free from damages. As for Skye Edwards's music. it will still take time for me to make a review of her second offering but I will do that very soon. I only wish that her cover of Feel Good Inc. is also included in this CD.

A world best kept secret, but why for a Skye's the limit voice box.
Morcheeba died the day Skye Edwards moved on, but for some reason her vocal smooth talent followers didn't relocate with her. Mrs Edwards solo career should have been a massive heart attack waiting to happen. Yet for some great unknowing her fans strode on with the vocal line up changes within Morcheeba, with only the single with the wonderful Judie Tzuke ever hitting on a equal smooth chill out vocal tracks (but I could be a bit biased as a 1979 fan of JT, just listen to her live album Road Noise) from her own solo career with songs like Stay with me till dawn, City of swimming pools and For you. Anyway, if you liked Skye Edwards voice check out her three solo albums and the return to the Morcheeba ranks was a welcome back to once a great band.

What a delightful surprise!
I enjoy most of Morcheeba's work, and one day while looking up some YouTube videos of their songs I stumbled upon one of the songs from this record. I was blown away by that one track so I purchased this record hoping there might be one or two other songs as enjoyable as that one, and was so pleasantly surprised. There's not a bad track on this record! The songs range from intensely intimate and hopeful ("Not Broken") to playful, ironic and full of dark humor ("Almost Killed Me"). It's a mellow, downtempo vibe for the most part with a few uptempo tracks mixed in without being jarring. Each track has its own unique flavour and the layered textures of each song are subtly different: there are so many moments of brilliance here it's hard for me to pick only a few of them out to illustrate. Skye's vocals are always a treat, from her subtle tremolo, soaring range, and depth of coloring to the breathily atmospheric layered harmonies you can find in almost every track. Each instrument is treated individually and given the respect it deserves, and the way the parts are all mixed together leaves room between the sounds. You are able to hear each breath, each triangle strike, each pizzicato violin note. The percussion is noteworthy because unlike a lot of modern releases, each percussive strike is clearly identifiable and doesn't get lost within a disappointing generic thumping sound. Also, the overall downtempo vibe is not ruined with obvious digital or sequenced percussion: when/if it is present, it fits and works within the song and isn't obtrusive or overwhelming.I'm synaesthetic and this record is a visual and sensory treat. The overall woven tapestry of each song is a mosaic of beautiful sound which leaves me with full body chills, over and over again. I can't recommend it enough and it makes me a little sad that records like this one fall by the wayside while other less talented artists are practically household names. Skye Edwards is brilliant, and if you're looking for a record which describes the internal tragedy of heartbreak while offering hope, absolution and the possibility of surmounting any emotional obstacle which might come your way... this just might be that record.

A beautiful and uplifting album
I could write a review of the music and explain how each track has individuality and how Skye's voice is so comforting, but it would just be better if you bought the album and found out for yourself.

If you love Morcheeba you'll love this
Took a punt on this as no one else had reviewed and was not disappointed. Very much like Morcheeba, but not as funky. Can't believe that Morcheeba let her go, but glad she's back with Blood like Lemonade. I wish Morcheeba would allow her to rerecord the Antidote with her voice. Her voice is like soaking your brain in jelly.
