Solid, well-written book on training
I get a chance to read many books on adult learning. A few stand out as valuable, practical, and coherent references on the field. This book is one of the best examples of this. I can highly recommend this as a reference.

Excellent reference book for learning the basics of training
The author presents specific books in the back for delving deeper into specific areas like evaluating training. This book however is not simplistic but thoroughly covers the basics. I purchased the Book because I am being tasked with writing a training plan. Much of the first of the book on creating training objectives and the valuable checklists the author provides will give me the understanding of creating a quality training plan in a corporate setting. I am not consulting which the book gives advice about also. Overall, I skimmed the book first, then read all the chapters skipping content not relevant to my task. Finally, like icing on a cake, the book recommendations at the end will provide essential reading for learning beyond the basics.

I LOVE this book
My question to the author is: Which book of yours do I read next?I knew absolutely nothing about designing and developing instructional materials before I read this book. After reading this book and working through the exercises at the end of each chapter, I feel confident enough to doing this on a job. I feel that I learned all the basics in this one book. Dr. Carliner is extremely talented at explaining this process. I hope to read more books by this author.

This was the required text for one of my Adult Education classes, and it's really useful. We have to create a lesson plan for a 3hr long workshop and this book has helped every step of the way. I have sticky notes all over the place in it to help me find info more easily.

College textbook for Christmas...
Having this book means my daughter is continuing her master's degree, so yes, it is a great book! She asked for it and we delivered on Christmas morning. She actually laughed and was excited. Less $$ for her to have to cough up.
