I've used these for years. Love them but I don't think they actually filter 40,000 gallons of water. I tend to replace at 10 to 20 thousand gallons. I fill my hot tub with it. No problems with itchy skin from chlorine and other chemicals in tap water and perfect for Enzyme based chemicals in hot tub.

Our hot tub was starting to feel like sitting on sandpaper from all of the lime deposits. I finally had to drain it and get it all cleaned off. (sadly I used some pretty strong chemicals to break it loose but it didn't hurt our finish) I didn't want to go through the same again. While we have public water, it is hard water. I bought this hose filter and we've had no further issues!! I won't refill without it again. So worth the money!!

I have iron in my water and I have bought a ton of cheaper hose filters. This is the one, friends! Don't cheap out.

I bought this with the hope of reducing the hardness of my tap water, ideally; to use in a couple of aquariums with soft-water loving fish.I was skeptical as soon as I saw the rate at which the water flowed through this unit. How could there be a filter within that traps the dissolved solids that cause hardness? The water has to pass THROUGH something and that "Something" has to have an incredibly small flow-through barrier, It takes time and pressure and a rejection port for the pressure release of "bad" water".So...my suspicions were proven true when I I brought out my TDS meter. It simply measures the amount of "very small stuff" in a liquid. That's simplistic, but descriptive enough.The TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) reading of water straight from my tap reads 240 parts per million. That's hard water. The reading after passing water through this EcoOne unit was IDENTICAL.Absolutely nothing was being filtered out of this water.The water going in was the water coming out.Where are all these positive reviews coming from?

I use these to fill my above ground pool. I am on a well and with the lack of rainfall, I often have to top up my pool water and using these filters, my pool stays nice and clear with no sediment.

When I began filling my pool, there was good pressure and the water was clear. After about 10,000 gallons, the pressure was at about 30 percent. The water was still clear. So yes, the filter works good as far as removing contaminates, however you may need to exercise patience when doing so. I have well water.

We have very nasty rust in our water. This filter removed all rust. Found that it did a better job if you ran the water a littler slower through it.

All items ordered arrived in a timely manner and met my expectations.
