Love it!
Okay, confession time. I am almost forty-one years old, yet I ordered this kit for myself, not for a kid. I love rocks and crystals and minerals, not for healing, but just because they are fascinating and beautiful. I didn't have much before, so I decided to get what would sort of be a starter kit for myself. I was vacillating among this kit and a couple of others on Amazon. Here's what I got: 1. A set of tumbled stones of varying sizes, pictured in the oval dish with the red mechanical pencil for scale. 2. A set of most of the same stones in rough form, pictured in the rectangular dish. 3. A good-sized bag with a mix of smaller tumbled stones. They came all mixed together, but I have a penchant for sorting, so I have sorted all of mine out into little baggies. 4. A set of fossils, in the plastic box. 5. A "special" set of pumice, pyrite, and desert rose. 6. A big plastic identification mat (not pictured) *Note--there was not any plain gravel/limestone filler. All of the stones were good for keeping. The description uses the words "activity kit," but there aren't really activities included. I guess the activity part is blowing up the Internet like I did, trying to identify some of the stones that aren't on the mat. All of the larger ones were, but in the tumbled mix of smaller stones there were lots that weren't. I still have a couple pieces of "confusionite." I did run into one oddity: a few of the small stones had a round shape, almost like a marble cut in half. It's almost like they're tiny game pieces. Really I have only one disappointment: the desert rose. It is in the photo with the three stones. I was expecting a small but entire crystal structure, but it actually looks like there was a desert rose that was sawed into multiple pieces and I got one of the pieces. In fact, it has a couple of smooth flat sides where it was cut. You can't really get a sense of the structure and shape at all. Some of the other rough stones have flat sides, too, as though they were cut from larger chunks, but those aren't as bothersome as the desert rose. So it's a great set. If all of the sets are as good as the one I got, the purchaser should be well satisfied.

Great choice
This is a great variety set of rocks, fossils, and learning tools. I bought it for my grandson and he enjoys it so much I bought one for my great nephew too

A lot of fun!
Super fun kit! Came with a variety of stones, some nice holding bags, a nice identification mat which can be used as a cool poster, and a magnifying glass. From reading reviews of other kits people get "filler" rocks aka pebbles but I didn't see any in this kit which was nice. A lot of rocks and a lot of fun to sort through! I am not certain we got any carnelian or lemon jade as the mat implies however we did get some extra stones, faux turquoise (aka dyed howlite), peach moonstone and moss agate. Loved how it came with an extra pouch so kids can save their favorites. So all fossils and minerals on the mat were included. All in all I think it's definitely worth the price for a budding geologist or even just for adults - you'll get a lot of rocks for way cheaper than buying in store honestly

It’s ok for the price. Good as a basic kit for kids.
I was looking for a set of rocks and minerals that would give me a collection of definitive samples that I could go to as a reference. Unfortunately the samples are small and unlabeled, so it is difficult to be sure you have them correctly identified. For an exercise for kids to play with, it’s fine; and this is how it’s marketed. Added note: on reading my review the seller offered a refund, which was thoughtful and shows they are honorable. However a refund was not necessary as I feel the kit has some fun value for myself and my grandchildren. Adding one star for integrity.

Great Collection Overall!
Great rock collection kit. Pretty good variety for the price. My 10yr old was entertained for quite some time identifying the different rocks this collection contained. The fossils that came with the collection are a nice little added perk. Great buy for anyone who loves rocks and collecting as much as my kiddo does.

Wonderful rocks and fossil kit
This was a great kit. Containing fossils, raw stones and polished stones. The stones are small but a wonderful variety. It comes with a poster to help identify and a magnifying glass also. It’s also packed really nice with individual bags to store the different types of rocks. I’m really happy I got this kit.

Lackluster
First of all let me start by saying the price was good for the amount of rocks and fossils you get, unfortunately the bulk of the stones are tiny which is misleading because there is no mention of this size anywhere in the description? The size of these stones are so tiny that there is no real enjoyment of the discovery for the children who would be enjoying them. These stones are mostly smaller than ¼" even as small as ⅛" on average and I think that if they would be more forthcoming with this detailed information people could make a more informed dissension on their purchase and possibly look elsewhere for exactly what they're looking for. I will say the these stones are all tumbled and very nice to look at for the most part, the package does come with more than one pouch of stones including raw untumbled stones that are larger as well as fossils but these pouches have very few stones. If I were to have had a more detailed description I would have searched elsewhere for something that fit my criteria BUT the company did try with a nice color printed search poster that help the kids get excited about their discoveries.
