A FANTASTIC UNICORN IN THE WILD!
You will not find a more comfortable sleeping pad anywhere close to this weight, and when you find one that is close in weight, it will be more than twice the price, less comfortable, more narrow, and potentially as noisy as a bag of potato chips. The contours of the Klymit pads really are revolutionary for comfort and weight distribution. I have tried just about every expensive name brand sleeping pad you can think of, and the Static V2 is hands down my favorite 3 season pad. I now use Klymit pads as a comfort standard of 10, and against the Static V2 I would comparatively rank the Nemo Tensor a 7.5, the Thermarest Neo Air XLite a 6.5, and the Big Agnes Air Core a 5.75. By the way, I also have a favorite Winter pad: the Klymit Insulated Static V Luxe (R Value = 5, and 30" wide to keep you surrounded in warmth). My friends laugh and say I must be sponsored by Klymit, but I'm not, I'm just a huge fan based on countless nights of improved sleep while tent and hammock camping. Speaking of which, I've found the V2 to be the perfect size to turn diagonally inside of a hammock, which increases sleeping comfort even more. In the last 7-8 months, I have converted several people to Klymit pads just by letting them test mine out. Out of my friends that have switched to Klymit pads, there's only been one leaky episode, and that's because Jinx the cat has razor-sharp claws. Klymit does include patch kits with every sleeping pad, but that particular friend can be forgetful and lost his patch kit somewhere around April 20th. However, he fixed the hole with a blob of crazy glue and his Static V2 has kept air perfectly ever since. If you don't personally know anyone who has had a first-hand experience with a Klymit sleeping pad, hopefully everything mentioned above will help reassure you that Klymit makes an excellent product. I've dropped some coin on outdoor gear in my day, and Klymit is certainly a stand out brand for comfort, quality, and value. My next purchases from Klymit will be the Static V Junior (for my 7 year old nephew), the Inertia X-Frame (to examine the comfort-to-weight-savings trade-offs between it and the V2), and the Double V (for a DIY / MYOG project, a 2 person quilt with sheet sleeve, made specifically to fit this pad). If you're considering the Klymit Static V2, just go for it. You'll be so happy that your friends will suspect you are sponsored as well.

Wide, comfortable and pad actually weighs 16.4 oz
I have been using thermarest self inflating pads since late 70s. My current are a reg and short ProLite 4. I have bought and returned all previous air pads as they either moaned like an injured animal(original Big Agnes) or sounded like laying on a bag of potato chips(Thermarest NeoAir). Also all except this Klymit the edges were not supportive and so if you moved at all either rolled off or felt like you were on a 16" wide pad. I have never had a backpacking pad this wide before. All of my previous BP pads were 20" wide and so just barley as wide as my shoulders. So I had to have my arms on top of me or they were on the ground beyond the pad if I placed them beside me. The extra inches in width of this Klymit V2 allows me more comfort as my arms can be by my side. I do not feel any sign of roll off using this pad. The edges remain firm. This pad is quiet with no obnoxious sound effects. I found 12 slow breaths inflated this pad to my comfort, so 2 or 3 more would have made it almost hard. I am 6-1 198 lbs. I am a hike leader and long distance backpacker and have lead hikes on both coasts and hike 4 seasons. Yes there are lighter pads and higher R rated pads out there. Klymit makes an UL but I like the extra width and comfort of this one which I will use late spring through early fall depending on location temps. The V2 I received weighed 16.437 oz/466g, sack with repair patch 0,740oz/21g, total 17.178 oz/487g. The valve works very well and the material feels much tougher than most. Most pads are not actually tested for their R value and even the ones that are; well lets just say the test used is only reading temp below and on top of the pad for Heat/cold transfer and has no human involved. You should test them yourself to decide if they are warm enough for you! I have used my ProLite 4 below 0 F and that is below its rating. I will update my temp rating on this Klymit V2 after extended usage. Klymit also makes insulated versions for late/4 season usage in reg and UL versions. I may look into those this fall.

Great pad, but developed slow leak. (Update: pad replaced and works great)
I really wanted to give this product 5 stars. In comparison to the comparable Therma-rest Trail Scout Regular sleeping pad which I have, it is lighter. It is 2 1/2 times thicker at 2.5 inches thick. It is less expensive. It is more compact. And I found it to be much more comfortable to sleep on than the Therma-rest. I like the side rails and the pattern of tubes. I did not feel the ground, whether sleeping on my side or stomach over somewhat rough mountainous terrain (I am 145 lbs). I also like the large valve mechanism used for inflating the pad. The pad material seems rugged. However, by the 2nd night, the product had developed a slow leak. I found myself sleeping on the ground after 30 minutes. At night the pad was used in a tent, and the tent was on top of a blue tarp ground-cloth (unlike the photos I have included). Between the first night the second night, the pad was safely stowed in it's bag, so I am not sure how it developed the leak. I will be exchanging the product via Amazon for the exact same model. I hope the product I receive back does not leak. I will be testing it this time over a couple of nights at home before taking it anywhere. (It should also be noted that the pad has a lifetime warranty, so if the return period is up w/Amazon, it could also be exchanged through Klymit.) UPDATE: I received a new Sleeping Pad for Klymit for free without any hassle. After approximately 50 nights on it over a period of two years, it has no leaks, and I have been very happy with it.

If you want a light, easy to pack and compact mat that provides superb comfort then look no further. This mat is quite superb: it is strong, easily inflated and above all comfortable. I suffer from a bad back yet this fantastic mat supported me in all the right places and together with a Trekology Ultralight inflatable pillow I had an excellent nights sleep. It is a fantastic mat and I highly recommend it. If only I had one during my 35 years of service!
