What do you get when you put Iggy Pop together with Glenn Matlock of the Sex Pistols? A bat-sh*t crazy album of Iggy Pop attitude and ball-busting business, no nonsense rock splatter. If you like the more laid back Iggy, this album is not for you. You can tell Iggy is on something here, as the music stays aggressive throughout, whether the subject matter is ridiculous or depressing. It's worth the price alone for the tracks "Loco Mosquito" and "Dog Food". If you like Stooges era Iggy, this will take you back.

Iggy's post-Stooges work is, in my not so humble opinion, relatively hit or miss. This one's a hit. There's no overall sound so I'll take it song by song:Loco Mosquito 5/5Weird keyboard driven upbeat rocker. Sounds like circus music. Catchy as hell.Ambition 5/5Written by the original bassist from the Sex Pistols, Glenn Matlock (who cowrote almost all of the Pistols' tunes). Upbeat rock on acoustic guitar with eerie atmospherical organ. Iggy sings from the point of few of a girl.Knocking 'Em Down 5/5Heavy guitar driven rocker. Iggy sounds like the singer from Jane's Addiction in this song. I never got into them. Iggy sounds better. Catchy as hell.Play It Safe 4/5Iggy's sole collaberation with David Bowie on the album. Slow and weird. I dig. The lyrics are dissing on popular music's escapism.Get Up And Get Out 3/5Another slow, weird one. Has a lot of horns which gives it a jazz feel. They're cool but the song is slow, redundant and pointless. The horns keep it interesting.Mr. Dynamite 2/5Would be a crappy song if the backing band wasn't so good. The piano and horns add nice layering and saves an otherwise poorly written and pointless song.Dog Food 5/5The other side of the album starts off with its 2 best songs. Dog food is a great upbeat punk rock classic. I think I read somewhere this was an unused Stooges song.I Need More 5/5Another classic. Great music. Great lyrics I think most people can relate to. One of the best songs the Igster ever wrote. Who else whould use "more mustard, pickle, and relish" as a metaphor for wanting more out of life?Take Care Of Me 4/5Sounds like it could have been a radio hit. Driving power pop, somewhat of a ballad in a weird way. No classic but a nice little ditty.I'm A Conservative 4/5Iggy mocking conservatism. Same kind of subtle sociopolitical satire as on Play It Safe. Midtempo guitar driven rocker.I Snub You 5/5Upbeat punk rock'n'roller. A great song about hating some junkie. Good stuff.
