Doctor Who U.N.I.T 1971 - The Claws of Axos Collector Figure Set, 07204RPD

My Son is very pleased with this Action Figure set.

I paid less than a tenner for these sealed figures, so I'm happy to add them to my collection.

I've been begging for a UNIT figure set from Character Options for some time so was initially delighted to see this product advertised. In hand however, I found it a bit of a let down. Personally I would have preferred a generic UNIT trooper army builder in place of the previously available Brigadier figure. If this had happened I would have been tempted to buy more than one set.Still, as that's my personal preference it can be overlooked, but I have other issues with the collection. Firstly, the Benton and Yates figures share the same torso (to save money!), yet Yates shouldn't have the webbing and pouches. Secondly, neither Benton or Yates have the correct military trousers (again, re-use of old parts to save money). Finally, a totally inaccurate weapon is included for Benton, and Yates really should have been given a pistol. This is even more bizarre when you consider the "Terror of the Zygons" set includes the correct Stirling machine gun. Why not include it here?On the plus side, the likenesses of Nicholas Courtney and John Levene are spot on (although Courtney has incorrect brown hair). The Richard Franklin sculpt is a bit more lacklustre though (so much so that it's reused as a generic trooper in the afore-mentioned Zygon set!)So a welcome release in some ways, but the sculpt & paint quality is a shadow of the figures that were available back when this line began.

Firstly at just £21, I felt this was good value, the figures look good.I've bought several of these "History sets" and trust more they are difficult to open and get the contents out! But worth the wait.The box that contained them, had seen better days, difficult to understand where this had been stored or it's history, the cardboard had turned up corners, but the plastic front had so many scratches, looked liked it been kicked around like a football on the floor.. So just 4 starts from me.

Excellent value for the price. Especially for two iconic characters and one very iconic character.

I love the classic doctor who, it's great however it's the new brand of putting a line in that's the question.It's Doctor Who, not -Doctor Who-
