This book is a compilation of a wide array of aphorisms and uncited quotes dating back to the 1700s when Benjamin Franklin was making the Poor Richard's Almanac series yearly from 1732 to 1758. However it is not a true almanac. It's merely the compilation of the wit and wisdom Franklin compiled in his almanacs over the course of its run, accompanied by several wood print illustrations to decorate each page. It does not contain what usually constitutes a traditional almanac such as calendars, star charts, long-term weather forecasts/predictions, agricultural advice, or tide tables. So if you're buying this for an authentic Poor Richard's Almanac experience, you're going to fall short. That all being said, this is still a delightful book to have around, as it is full of Ben Franklin's iconic wit and wisdom. Bear in mind though, as Franklin was very transparent about, not all of the quotes are his, but as he never cites sources, nobody knows for certain what are his and what are not.
