Thanks to previous buyers warnings,I took a small file to some of the unfinished edges, they would have caused a nasty cut or two. Apart from the tidying up of the edges, the item looks strong and well made,my only small niggle is the pencil holder is just too small to hold a felt tip pen,but given time I will get round the problem.

Trying to create fish scales on a bedroom wall, but my other compass just wasn't big enough. This has don't the trick. It can definitely create 30cm arcs.

As the title states, it is a very robust article. I have not found the problems the other reviewers have mentioned. It was covered in oil but that is for protection/preservation and did not take long to remove. The item was bought for upholstery and metal work pattern making.

Heavy, easily adjustable and superb pencil hold. Ideal for plotting nautical chart work.

It really doesn't work well at either small or large radii, and the pencil clamp wobbles unless you screw it so tight that you destroy the pencil. I recommend spending more and getting something more sophisticated.
