Comprehensive System for Maximum Gains!
I'm a fitness professional and typically design my own workout programs. However I also like to experiment from time to time with other training methods in order to make sure I keep my mind fresh and open to new ideas!I've actually known about Power, Rep Range, Shock (aka P/RR/S) for many years thanks to various audio and print interviews where Eric Broser outlined the basic concepts of his system. I recently purchased the DVD because I decided it would be great to see how things were executed in real time.Due to the very specific tempos used along with various intensity techniques, getting to actually see how true these tempos are actually adhered to was extremely helpful. When he says 3 second eccentric, he MEANS a 3 second eccentric and so on!It is amazing how much more intensity of effort sticking to the various recommendations brings to the workouts.I personally took the various concepts on the dvd and restructured some things to work for my schedule as well as customized some things that I felt would work better for myself as an individual. Still I stayed true to the most important elements of the program and I can tell that my body has been challenged in a very different way.The basic idea behind P/RR/S is to use various loading and intensity strategies to hit all the various muscle fibers. It also falls in line with the mechanisms of muscle hypertrophy (Muscle tension/Metabolic Stress/Muscle Damage) that are key to maximizing gains. These principles were outline by Dr. Brad Schoenfeld in his 'Mechanisms of Muscle Hypertrophy and Their Application to Resistance Training' as well as his 'Max Muscle Plan' book (also HIGHLY recommended, incredible book!)If you are experienced with resistance training and looking to 'breathe new life' into your workouts I highly recommend purchasing this DVD!
