Great Book & Manual and History
The Book is more then a Manual, And it give you all the history. .... I rated it as a 6 Stars because of the full colored Pictures, and explains each part of the process..... I build my first Electric Guitar, and IF had had this book it would have saved me a lot of time, and I would have made a better Guitar....... It Does not cover any repairs on the body or outward modifications...... Remember This is Not a Book "BUT AN INVESTMENT." Thank-you Amazon

It's ok, but it's not as Les Paul-centric as the title implies.
This book is ok. Much of the information relates to any electric guitar. What I mean is that there are sections on re-stringing, changing jacks, changing pickups, etc. These topics are not Les Paul specific, and they make up the majority of the book. The best part for me is in the back where it explains some of the rationale behind the serial numbering. Although, if you read the section for the late 70s where it tries to explain how to determine whether a guitar came from Kalamzoo or Nashiville, the formula they give to use with their examples doesn't work the way they describe. There are better books on Les Pauls out there.

This Book is a must for any Les Paul afficinado! Very good structure, top notch Information and excellent pictures.Even if you do not intend to do the described alterations you will certainly appreciate the work of your guitar tech who does the maintenance.

THE Les Paul book to buy
I bought this on a whim as I already owned the Haynes Les Paul book and I am so glad I did. This book covers everything you could possibly ever want to know about the Gibson & Epi LP's, including the history of the companies and full details and guides of maintenaning, repairing and modding just about every aspect of the guitar. It's a book you can read and enjoy and not just something to reach for when you need help with maintenance. Highly recommended.
