WORKS!!!
I have an MSI Katana GF76 Laptop with one HDMI port. I wanted to add second monitor. The laptop has a USB-C type port, I tried multiple USB-C to HDMI adapters that work on other computers and none of them worked in this laptop, I would get an error in the Device Manager: Failed to reset Port. I was about to give up, but decided to try one regular USB 3.0 adapter, the blueish ones. When I got this one, I plugged it in and it wouldn't work, instructions say install the drivers before connecting the device, I had to try anyways, it's my nature. The package comes with instructions and a mini CD with the drivers. No CD reader here. The instructions also give you the website where you can download them drivers but the website wouldn't load for me or maybe I typed it wrong. Fortunately, they also list the filename of the drivers and a quick search on G took me to the website, downloaded the drivers, installed them and boom! it worked! Now the image is not as sharp as the main HDMI output, might need some adjustments in the settings but it works and I'm happy.

Bought 1, ordered another, had to return both
As an electrical engineer I offer the following. Although the product initially worked as presented, I had to rate everything as 1 star because the product failed. I did not experience the installation or display problems others have described until failure. My uninstall proceeded without incident as well. However, the design and quality control seem to be substandard. And for the record, Amazon's return process has become so painless it was really no problem to return both units. Thank you, Amazon. Both units failed, one by one, within days. I had the same experience as others who commented that the product runs very hot. For electronics, that's very bad. I suspect one of my units failed due to heat stress. The other unit had parts rattling around inside, which suggests poor quality control in the design and assembly. If you get it, and it works for you, terrific. But Amazon asked me to answer an unanswered question (which I could not find), so instead I elected to provide my review, which I seldom do, but this product offering calls for a 'buyer beware'. In the case of this product, while I feel sympathy for the designers and marketers because it is clear they tried hard to do their best to provide a great product at a great price, unfortunately the product just misses the design and quality control that is reasonable to expect. I don't know if it's acceptable or not to make a recommendation here, but I really needed a product to perform this conversion, so I turned to StarTech, also available on Amazon. It's a different caliber of company and product, more expensive, but I have been using it for about a month. It's well designed, runs relatively cool and without problems, and they have great customer support via chat - very knowledgeable people with immediate results. I had a special need for this conversion and they helped me promptly understand the different techniques for USB-HDMI conversion so I could select the proper design. They also readily recommended returning one of their products even though it had not failed because THEY discovered it was not the right one for my application. Pretty cool! If you change manufacturers for this conversion, remember you have to uninstall the drivers of this product first, then install the drivers for the product you choose to go with. In the case of StarTech, their products works very reliably. I have no affiliation with either of these manufacturers, I'm just writing what my experience has been.

Very surprisingly works!
I have a slightly lower-end business laptop that had a single HDMI port. Even with using the laptop screen and an attached monitor I desired more display room for my office work. I was a little skeptical reading about this little USB device thinking that it surely wouldn't work on my laptop with a low-end video card in it already. But it worked! I installed the drivers (downloaded from the website instead of using the included cd), plugged the device into a spare USB port, plugged another monitor into it via HDMI cable, and the display just worked. In Windows 11 I set it to extend to my display (instead of mirroring) so that I can have multiple different apps open on each screen. As a note, I did try a couple different HDMI cables. One, which may have been of poorer quality, did not display well, the colors were off and it was very grainy. But once I switched to a newer HDMI cable then it was crystal clear.

it's a bit finicky, but if you understand how it works it's great.
I've been running 3 screens with this device for a bit over a month now. The good: it runs 3 screens off of my low-end laptop (including the laptop screen, 2 other monitors are extended). The bad: it does flicker from time to time, so it's not the solution you want for gaming, for slamming out projects for school it's a godsend. : it's true, this device does get really hot when its in use. I have a pedestal stand for my monitors with 4 USB ports that runs off of wall-power for charging things, one of these USB ports is devoted to a USB computer fan that helps cool my laptop (budget laptops get really hot when you double their RAM), I had to put this adapter in the airstream of this fan to keep it cool. I'm pretty sure if I didn't do that the electronics inside would overheat, short out, and probably fry one of my USB ports in the laptop. so beware of that, do the same thing if you can. : and finally the finicky-ness you have to download a driver off of a website that is not Microsoft-supported, this seemed ok to me, no viruses (even though I deserve them). you have to follow the instructions. turn your computer to airplane mode, disconnect ethernet if you use one... turn off firewall, run the driver installer as administrator. restart the computer, turn your firewall back on, turn your wifi back on and reconect internet.... then it works! in the same USB 3.0 port, not the other one. if you need to use a different USB 3.0 you have to plug this device into that port and repeat this process... infact you have to repeat this process after each windows update... so yeah, finicky. in conclusion, if you are a nerd, you got more than what you paid for. If you know about sports you'll probably call this a piece of junk and throw it away because computers are hard.

runs very hot
it works fine and for the cost and its worth it...however...it really only likes hdmi to hdmi connections, also this adapter run extremely hot...so i would not run that monitor all day long without giving it a break at times, also when my machine goes to sleep, the monitor doesnt really respond when it wakes up...so i end up having to unplug the the usb cable and put it back in and its fine...so again it does the job when i need it but its not perfect and the cost reflects that

This works very well with my USB3.2 port, where others would not.
This works with my USB3.2 port, where others would not. My MB has the Intel UHD Graphics 770 card and I just needed a 3rd output to my TV screen. As shown in picture, I connected this as Display 3, and it outputs to a splitter to run 2 TV monitors that duplicate Display 2. I ran into other issues with other products. A 2GB PCIe GeForce 7300 Display card prevented my HDMI screen capture card from working; The the Anker HDMI Port did not work at all. The only complication was properly matching and configuring the Windows 10 display settings to fit my needs. The technology is going to daisy chain display ports, USB3.2 or thunderbolt. This is a good solution with my current hardware and monitors.

It Works!!!
After ordering 3 cords, I finally found this one that works. The other 2 cords were not from this company. For background, I had a Microsoft 10 PC with 2 monitors hooked up: one via VGA and the other via HDMI. I got a new HP Pavilion PC with Microsoft 10 that did not have a VGA port but it did have the new USB C port. I ordered a cord that went from USB C on one end to HDMI on the other, hooked up my monitor and it did not work. I returned that cord and ordered a USB C to VGA/HDMI adapter, which did not work either. I bought both of those from Amazon and they allowed me to return with no problem and they paid shipping, so no complaints there. This last cord goes from USB 3 to HDMI and works great! They provide instructions on loading the driver which worked fine with no issue. They provide a small CD that has the driver or you can follow the written instructions; get on their website and update the driver which is what I did. Why newer PC's have a USB C port is a mystery, but I am happy!

Absolutely Terrible - Do Not Waste Your Money!
I wish I could give this product zero stars because even one star feels far too generous for this abysmal USB to HDMI adapter. From the moment I received it, I had a bad feeling, and sure enough, this product managed to exceed even my lowest expectations — in the worst way possible. First of all, the packaging was cheap and flimsy, giving the impression that this was something thrown together without any care. But the real nightmare began when I actually tried to use it. As I attempted to plug the adapter into my computer, the bottom part literally fell off! I’m not exaggerating — it just collapsed in my hands like a piece of junk. How can something so poorly made even make it to market? Even after I managed to somehow reassemble it and plug it in, it simply did not work. There was no signal, no connection, absolutely nothing. This adapter was completely useless. To call it a waste of money is an understatement. It’s honestly offensive that a product this terrible is even being sold. The build quality is atrocious, and I have no doubt that even if it had worked initially (which it didn’t), it would have broken down within a few uses. Do yourself a favor and avoid this garbage. This is by far the worst electronic accessory I have ever purchased. Save your money and go for something — anything — else. This product is a complete disaster.
