Helped me become a REAL mom.
I was looking for a home printer that prints 4x6 prints so I don't have to squint at tiny photos of my son in albums (that I will eventually compile, I know, bad millenial mom) AND frame some of those awesome photos. I had an LG pocket photo printer, though worked well, was kinda pricey in terms of paper and definitely printed SMALL photos for my 34-year old ageing eyes. Yes, I wear glasses. Those tiny photos are good enough for tacking on to your office cubicle, but not really good for framing for the living room. The quality is also so-so. If you like Instagram filters, yes. But now that I'm trying to be more adult and responsible, I have outgrown its purpose. So, I went on a hunt for a home printer that prints photos wirelessly from phones, that can print beyond credit card sized momentos (very specific). I do own an HP office printer. It is 5 years old and still works well. I do not want to bankrupt myself printing photos of my son through said printer, even with their ink subscription. Their app also don't work well with the phone. And because of how horrible printers are, I do not want to mess with buying another home office printer until mine dies. It's like rolling the dice, you won't know if the next one will be a bust. I focused my search on photo printers and narrowed it down to the Selphy and this gem. I can't believe that at 2022, when humans have made rovers to get to Mars, and made mRNA vaccines to fight a pandemic... we only have 2 sad options for this particular niche. What I didn't like about the Selphy was it wasn't true 4x6 in size. I did not want to have any cropping errors or specific albums/frames not fitting the photos. Mostly, I didn't like the picture quality. I have seen how the Selphy performs since it's the most common printer used in wedding picture booths in my home country. Though good enough, it's not a vibrant and realistic as it should be. I also don't like the sides of the photos having "tear" uneven ends.Enter this printer. Holy crap. My phone photos look so realistic. Coming from a simple Google Pixel 5a, unedited photos (apart from those edits the default Camera algorithm applied to balance exposure, etc) look NICE. Skin looks real. I WANT to frame the photos, which is what my goal was.Setup was a breeze. Just remove all the plastic you see. Pop the ink in. Type your wifi info on the printer (OMG it worked on 1 try!). Install the app on your phone... and Viola! You are printing your photos. From my phone, I can easily click "Share" to the app and do different layouts if I want to collage, or just print as is. It literally does all I want. And I can't believe this printer is so OLD, and no one has updated this thing. The app has been updated yes, but the hardware of this printer remains the same. Printers are lagging in innovation, but I guess this Epson doesn't need much improvement if it does what it needs to do. The ink and paper are affordable too. No more using "I have to go to CVS to pick up prints, UGH" as an excuse to procrastinate on printing photos of my son. I am now a TRUE mother. I have a photo of my son in my wallet, after almost 2 years of him being alive. Thank you, Epson PictureMate.

Printer DELIVERED!!!
I was shooting an event info ever year for a client where they have me print portraits of attendees to give out as party favors at the end of the event. In previous years I used a HITI printer but it died in me in the middle of my 3rd time using it. And it was just out of warranty. As big as it was it was going to cost $75 just to ship it to CA to get diagnosed which means even more $ to fix. After spending over $600 to purchase it I determined $200 per event before it breaks is not worth it. Did my research and this little printer kept coming up and was even suggested by B&H AND Adorama. Waited for Black Friday to get it on sale which I did and felt like I won a mini lottery. This printer was SO simple to set up and test printing where I barely needed to go through the instructions. I had absolutely ZERO issues with it at the event except that I wish the ink cartridge lasted longer. I had to switch cartridges just at the end which means I have a 95% cartridge sitting in it now with little need to print until the next years event. Looks like I will need to find images to print as it recommends not letting it sit for more than 6 months. What I did print at the event met the expectations as far as quality and attendees were so excited and thankful to get their portraits at the end of the party. Now I won’t be dreading this event with the printing that comes with it!

Handy for 3x5 and 4x6 photos
My second one. First failed after 5 years. Only bad design item is the all in one ink cartridge. When you run out of one, you're done.

Six years and counting - this printer never fails
I was printing larger prints on a larger printer and had a thought - I wish every printer worked as seamlessly as my PictureMate. I figured I'd come review it as it truely is one of the best, most consistant electronic prodcut I've owned. I do always buy Epson brand ink refill and premium paper (4x6 and 5x7) so I'm sure that plays into it. It folds up so small that it is easy to keep right by my desk. It only needs a power cable, since it easily connects to my comptuer via wifi. I've taken it to Girl Scout meetings to work on posters since it's so portable. I've printed from Lightroom, Preview and iPhotos without issues. I don't have much more to say just figured I'd put in my two cents since I've had it so long. I had another very early PictureMate before I got this one in 2019. It also lasted many years and many prints. I can't say how many prints I've gotten out of this one (sadly it does not keep track). But I can see on my Amazon order history that I've bought ink 8 times - and it's about 125ish I think so I've got over 1,000 prints off this I think. Hope that helps someone on the fence!

Not happy with the fact the printer was only 3 months old and not working!
I have purchased a lot of these printers directly from Epson for years. I use them in photography studio of 20 years. I purchsed the newest one through Amazon in October 2024. It's January 2025 today. It's no longer printing color on the paper. I cleaned the heads and reset to factory specs. It's not working after only being 3 months old. Come to find the printer was purchased through a company called "The Factory Depot". I am guessing it a refurbished printer! I have never had issues with these printers other then years and years of use.I called Amazon to send it back to the company, they sent me a mailing lable, I took the unit to the UPS office to find out it will cost ME $42.00 to mail back a $249.00 three month old printer! I am sooo not happy right now. I have photo jobs coming up and I need this printer to work.
