HODEDAH IMPORT Bookcase, Rainbow, 5 Door

I enjoyed putting this baby together. It was very easy to assemble. It’s very sturdy and the quality of the wood is amazing, of course, it had that manufacture smell when I opened the package but it went away as I was assembling it. The height is perfect, I’m 5’8 and it stands up to my face. It looks great with every color scheme we’ve used in my work space/living room area. Each selection is perfect to organize different ideas and are very spacious.

My son helped me to put the together. Fairly easy to do. I bought two of these for my many spools of quilting thread. These are exactly what I wanted.

I took a chance on this because it was the right size for the space I needed to fill. The reviews had me a bit worried that it would arrive in a series of broken pieces, but not only did it arrive quickly, but it was fully intact with no damage and contained all its parts. I was very tempted to buy a similar, natural wood, lightly used item locally which was already assembled, sturdy, and priced lower because it was previously owned, but opted for this unit instead, in white, since I thought it would offer a more crisp, clean look. It mostly fit the bill, but the screws on the sides aren't sunken and don't offer screw caps, so they stand out like a sore thumb and really detract from the clean white look (if the screws were at least silver they might match the silver plastic handles, but they're an ugly brassy color) and the plastic hinges wouldn't be so bad if they were actually white like the laminate, but they're more of an off-white creamy color so it just makes it look as if the plastic has yellowed from age which also detracts from the fresh clean look I was aiming for. So while I wasn't expecting a high end piece and don't mind that there are plastic parts, my advice to others is to opt for the darker pieces like black or wood so that these flaws, like off-color plastic hinges and the dark ugly screws will blend in better and be less noticeable -- they're a real eyesore against the white. That being said, after putting it together, it will satisfactorily serve my needs for the price, so I'll keep it and will probably paint the screws and hinges white to improve its appearance.

Good quality. Very sturdy. Very easy to assemble, even by my self. Highly recommend.

I bought the product because it had several compartments with doors and was on sale. The initial impression was that this is heavier than I expected. The packaging was sufficient but the styrofoam was thin. Some of the veneer (cheap melamine) was dented in the corners. The assembly instructions are good and the assembly is straight forward. The plastic bits are cheap and if you overtighten a screw you piece is toast. Typical screw into compressed fiber board construction. Quality was interesting as the veneer was only applied to where it was visible. The bottoms of the doors have exposed pressed wood. The bottom sides of the shelves are also exposed so the manufacturer saved those extra pennies on materials wherever they could. Overall it seems sturdy enough and the gaps in the door are surprisingly consistent for the low rate plastic hinges. This is most definitely disposable furniture, I have the feeling that I've thrown away cardboard boxes that are made of better materials. I definitely would not pay full price for this, but I'm not going to take the effort to disassemble it for a return. Lesson's learned: Do not use weight as an indicator of quality. Somehow this thing weighs 50+ lbs? The manufactures must've figured out how to mix something heavy in with the compressed wood to add the appearance of heft....

I love the look. My first bookcase unit did not have the 5 panels for the back of the unit. It was returned and the replacement bookcase did not have the bottom pi panel but there were 2 panels for the top. This made it impossible to connect the bottom door unless I put a hole in the correct position for the hinge. I decided to try that or I will leave the beautiful purple door off, which will be a shame.

The wood is pretty low quality and the box and packaging is very awful. Mine got delivered to me busted open and heavily taped up. Lucky all pieces were included and nothing got lost. Unfortunately there are visible scuffs and cracks on the exterior panels as a result of the terrible packaging. Surprisingly I was able to assemble it all and it seems to be holding up so far. My biggest fear was that it was going to arrive broken or with missing pieces because it would be near impossible to put all this back into the box and ship it back. I'm using it to store my game collection and it seems to be ok so far. It's not leaning or falling over. I have it on a carpeted floor. Assembly was pretty easy. I did it myself. Instructions were pretty easy to follow. All you need is a hammer, screwdriver and the included Allen wrench. But still, buyer beware. I'm really worried about the side of the case that arrived with a crack. I will contact the seller to see if perhaps a replacement panel can be sent because I don't want this collapsing on me in a few months

I have been buying the Mahogany Hodedah book shelves for years. I've have to send some back because of bad packaging. But the product itself has been perfect for my needs. It's incredibly hard to find them without the doors now but I took a chance to buy the ones with doors and just leave the doors off. They are now packaged better and the little holes for the doors don't bother me and are hardly noticeable. I would love it if they brought back the originals with better packaging. I will settle for these for now. Easy to assemble. And match my originals.

This was a great product. Easy to put together. Good quality, nice finish the only negative are the doors are a bit difficult to place but otherwise a great find.

Ordered against my better judgement. Saw the bad reviews but thought I'd give it a try as it looked nice in the images. However the 2 large planks were cracked (1 only slightly, the other all the way through).

I don't like , because one side is damaged and I didn’t pay to cam in this condition
