I don't have an odor in my dishwasher, but it doesn't clean dishes properly anymore. Would this help renew the efficiency?

No, the main interesting ingredient here is citric acid, which will remove the "hard" water buildup (calcium and magnesium minerals) from the dishwasher, along with anything odor-causing that's living in that buildup. The only thing that'll get your dishwasher cleaning dishes properly again is putting phosphate back in the dishwasher detergent (it was taken out by all the manufacturers in 2010 because some, not even all, the states banned it). You can either go through some contortions to buy sodium hexametaphosphate and add it to regular detergent or buy something like Bubble Bandit (which gets around the bans, even in those legislatively-misguided states, by claiming to be for commercial dishwashing machines) which still has plenty of phosphate in it. You could also try one of the fancy multi-compartment detergent pods (the highest-end Cascade as well as Finish Quantum, possibly others, but do your research for which ones actually work), but those are pretty expensive, especially since the different-colored compartments aren't just a gimmic (likeI, cynically, originally thought) but are actually supposed to release different chemicals at different times in the rinse cycle. Phosphates will both get your dishwasher cleaning again and prevent the buildup in the first place. Their removal from dishwasher detergents is a faux-environmentalism scam, as those contributed less to less than 1% of the phosphates in wastewater, even in those places where phosphate concentrations were a legitimate problem (which is not even everywhere). The biggest culprit is, unsurprisingly, industrial pollution, and that's, equally unsurprisingly, still not banned, despite everyone's dishwashers having been rendered useless. Why pay more for fancy pods with unknown-impact chemicals when good, old phosphates do the job perfectly well?

How is this better than a tablespoon of bleach?

Well, it can be run with dishes in the diswasher if you want to. It also has a pleasant, lemony scent. Bleach, especially in such a small concentration, does not do much for hard water build up/lime scale. For that you need something acidic. If you don't want to use these tablets, a cup or two of vinegar (apple cider vinegar smells better, but any vinegar will do) works fairly well. I have also sprinkled baking soda in the grate in the bottom of my dishwasher, then poured the vinegar in and let it sit a few minutes before running the dishwasher to clean it. The reaction of the vinegar and baking soda helps loosen bits of food residue caught in the grates.

It contains citric acid and sodium bisulfate. Does an exceleent job of cleaning. The racks slide in and out so much easier.

My dishwasher has black mold growing in it. What could be causing it. We run the dishwasher typically 3-5 times a week.

Mold is growing because you are running it 3-5 times per week. Put a small amount (half an ounce) of bleach in your dishwasher with every wash and let your dishwasher dry out (leave the door open) after each use. With 3-5 washes per week the mold/mildew will be gone by the end of the week.

Good cleaner

This cleaner works very well for freshening up my dishwasher and removing buildup. It’s simple to use and helps eliminate odors after a cleaning cycle. The machine feels noticeably cleaner afterward. A great maintenance product to use periodically to ensure you have clean dishes

This product works great, cleans the drainer and the bad odor is gone! My dishes were sparkling!

I don't write reviews often, but I was so impressed with this product that I had to write one. I have not used my dishwasher in over a year, because it didn't run properly. The bottom of the dishwasher had about 2 inches of water left and didn't drain properly, it caused the washer to smell bad. I tried vinegar and turning the dishwasher on with the best dishwasher pods on the market, nothing worked. I had ordered Affresh and decided to try it today. My dishwasher is clean and works properly, the drainage worked, no water pooling and the dryer worker great. I have clean dishes and a clean washer! This is a great product I highly recommend it.

Sparkling Clean Dishwasher

I’ve been using these tablets to give my dishwasher a good refresh, and they really do the trick. Super easy to use—just pop one in and run a cycle. It cuts through that cloudy film and leaves everything looking and smelling clean. I like that it helps keep the inside of my dishwasher from building up gunk, so it feels like the machine is running better too. Definitely something I’ll keep on hand.

Love affresh products

If you need your machines clean please get affresh. When I first purchased my washing machine the mechanic said only use affresh products to clean your machines. When I got my dishwasher I 100% agree. With him. My machine can be filthy but once I use this to clean it it's spotless and it leaves it smelling so clean. It's super effective for cleaning and I never have an issue with dirt left over. I will say these tablets do require you to use two to clean and it is a bit expensive since not a lot come in the box, but again it's so efficient at cleaning I just pay the price.

A must have product if you own a dishwasher

Noticed that my dishes were not getting really clean any more. Found information stating that you should run a cleaning cycle every month. WOW does this product really clean the dishwasher. Leaves the inside of the dishwashing looking brand new! Dishes are clean as they should be. If you have a dishwasher, this product will save you money keeping the workings of the dishwasher clean from build-up. Great value for the money!

Great product!

I love using this product. I have bought it several times, and it works great. It helps with maintaining the dishwasher as long as you use it as intended every month. You can even use it while doing a load, that way you aren't wasting water. A friend turned me on to the product. I even use the one that helps clean out your coffee machine!

No more red residue on sides and smells so much better!

For some reason our dishwasher (less than 5 yrs old) keeps getting a reddish buildup inside. Maybe it's our detergent - who knows? In the meantime, I have to do something to clean it out - and I am in no way flexible enough to half crawl inside to do it manually! These had decent reviews so I thought I'd try them. They work. Dishwasher smells great (didn't even realize it had a faint odor). No more red junk inside - even after running it again. So much better! Until I figure out what's going on, I suspect I'll be buying a lot of these!

Easy, effective, and necessary to maintain a fresh appliance.

Does a great job "freshening" a stale/stinky dishwasher. (Manufacturer suggests once a month... I stretch to every couple of months.) Simply toss the tab on the bottom or into the detergent cup - dependent on washing dishes or not) and voilá! Fresh and clean.

I didn’t research how this works or even if it actually works. That being said, I bought it because my dishwasher started smelling like fish after daily use for a year. I cleaned the filter and all but the smell didn’t completely go away. I used one tablet according to the instructions and the dishwasher smells fresh again. I guess I can maintain it more frequently so prevent the smell happening again but I’m not very domestic. I despise housework beyond cooking and baking. So there you go. Seems like working.
