Ordered this mat for some quarantine yoga. I confess I got so used to borrowing my wife’s mat (a different brand) that I forgot to open and try this one for a few weeks after I got it. I should have.The mat has a textured surface that at first feels good for grip, compared to smooth mats, but after my feet sweated a little I wasn’t so sure. There was just enough give on grip that I wondered how hot yoga users would fare. If you’re only doing gentle yoga or not getting too sweaty, it’s totally fine. The texture doesn’t detract from the comfort and you can sit or lie on it with ease.However, the mat did arrive with some creasing, and the creasing only got worse after gently trying to reverse the outer edge which kept curling (still does). I’ve used other yoga mats before and this is the first time I see one crease so easily and permanently. It doesn’t detract from its use, though it makes rolling it up slightly more annoying, but you’ll have to decide for yourself whether it bothers you aesthetically or otherwise.

Seriously, I’m in love with this mat. It’s non-slip. The texture is great for staying in place. The outer edge when unrolled doesn’t lie flat exactly but, maybe it’s me, I don’t think most mats do. The problem is finding a yoga towel that is the same dimensions. 72” is common but, this is 71”. If you don’t mind an extra inch then no big deal. I wish rumi made more accessories. Maybe I just haven’t found them. Going to try out the earth mat next instead of buying a yoga towel. It’s the same size and will work well as a travel mat I’m sure and washes like a towel. I’ll write another review when I use it for a while. The smell of the mat is very light and not bad when opened. Goes away with a wipe down of some essential oils. I looked on amazon and the web for a long time and read reviews and went with this one. Glad I did.

This is a great mat and a lot cheaper than retail. This is my first time with a more expensive, high quality mat. You can definitely feel the quality. The material is very rubbery and supporting. The thickness is perfect for me; I do not feel the ground. I also really like how the material feels because it has good grip and I love the rubbery feeling. It is a lot heavier than I expected. If you are looking for a lightweight mat, this is not for you. It is not like your foam mats. I personally love it though.

I love my Rumi sun yoga mat!! I had been looking for a mat that had a little better grip since I prefer to go to hot yoga and this is perfect for it! The grip is so good I no longer slip and slide on my mat, the material is a tad spongey so it feels like my body molds right into the mat and when I’m off it goes right back to normal. The thickness is not a lot but I was ok with this especially after getting on the mat and feeling how you don’t need that extra thickness with this wonderful material! Absolutely love this mat, it doesn’t smell weird after a nice hot yoga class, it doesn’t hold the sweat either so no need to put a yoga towel over my mat! Love, love LOVE!

I love this mat! It is exactly what I was looking for. It's really pretty and sleek (got it in blue) and the grip is perfect! If you get sweaty it can lose some grip, but not a huge amount. Really happy with my purchase overall :)

This mat is the best! So I wanted something not heavy, but dense enough where I felt stable, and just a bit of give for comfort. And I got it all with this baby! I’ve tried a lot of different mats over my life and this one is by far my favorite. It has a pleasant texture, I don’t slide at all. I use it a couple times a week for yoga and Pilates, and after a few months it’s holding up great. I can’t recommend it highly enough :)

I do a regular home practice - nothing very sweaty! But I love this mat now. It feels actually warmer than other rubber mats, which I like. This may be because the rubber is mixed with fabric fibers, so it has the perfect thickness as well.And perfect grip! Love it !

I like that it’s really long and spacious. I mainly bought it because I saw a review saying it was perfect for hot yoga. I used the precaution of buying a Madura yogi toes towel with it just in case. 2 minutes into the class I was slipping so luckily I bought the towel. It’s pretty grippy if you are doing non heated yoga but as soon as I got sweaty I was slipping. I love that it’s biodegradable I didn’t return it because it works fine with the towel.
